Analyst Inbound Transportation

Purpose: The Inbound Transportation Analyst is responsible for the overall transportation effectiveness through daily planning, analysis, and issue resolution. This person must have the ability to collaborate with internal, external, and 3rd party customers to achieve set goals and KPI’s. This position will require an independent thinker who strives for continuous improvement and likes to think on their feet. To be successful, the analyst must have advanced transportation and logistics knowledge as well as reporting and data analytics skills. This position is responsible for the support of all brands and the transportation management team.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Complete daily transportation routing processes to ensure the highest service levels at the lowest possible landed cost considering DC capacity, PLRDs, OTA, hard launch dates and free times at port(s).
  • Drive actions to minimize detention and demurrage, and knowledgably report the cost and root cause of all incurred D&D.
  • Communicate with DC leaders daily regarding incoming volumes, capacity constraints or possible delays. Proactively provide solutions to issues so to minimize impact to DC workflow.
  • Monitor, track and trace deliveries from carriers and vendors daily, communicating service challenges and updating systems and/or teams as appropriate
  • Quickly and effectively resolve inbound related issues found by the DC Receiving teams and avoid freight dwelling on the dock.


  • Always maintain the appropriate number of loaded and empty containers on the DC yard and hold the truck companies to SLAs for pick-up and delivery.
  • Work with cross functional teams with various backgrounds, points of view, and geographic locations to drive overall network performance improvement.
  • Execute reports to support daily operational tasks.

Key Relationships: 


  • Internally: Inbound Planning, DC leadership, Direct Ship Transportation, Security, Customs team, FTZ management
  • Externally: Ocean, air, and dray carriers, ocean/rail port management


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent analysis and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to organize data and prepare reports in a logical manner. Able to ‘tell a story’ with the data
  • Robust understanding of international and domestic logistics management (FCL, LCL, FTL, LTL, volumetric metrics) ocean, air and sea-air cargo management.
  • A solid working knowledge of Excel, Access, and SAP. LogNet and/or GTNexus a plus
  • Self-motivated, high energy that can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional teams across multiple businesses
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both formal and informal communication

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience in the supply chain or logistics industry. BA/BS in supply chain, business administration or logistics is a plus or combination of education and experience.
