Assistant Manager, Trade Marketing


As a key member of a fully cross functioning high performance team, the Assistant Manager, Trade Marketing is responsible for the successful planning and execution of marketing programs with retail partners through a variety of media, activations and retail marketing initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Trade Marketing, the role works closely with Sales and CtC to identify opportunities to elevate the brand and drive sell-through.


Key Accountabilities:

  • In collaboration with the CtC teams, create seasonal account plans, tool requirements, timelines and complete seasonal deliverable list for the account
  • Represent and advocate for the account, and brief/collaborate with Category Comms Teams for all account needs and tools 
  • Responsible for the development and execution of all Marketing Activations for key retail partners; concentrating on ISC, retail activations and digital/social
  • Work with retail partners and Digital Marketing team to brief and develop paid media programs.
  • Own timelines and communication with account plans and tool building.  Be a pro-active problem solver and communicator to mitigate delays, think creatively to solve issues, and hold stakeholders accountable to dates and deliverables 
  • Own Account budgets for the year, as well as each individual program, and drive the strong balance of creative disruptiveness along with disciplined spending efficiencies  
  • Brief necessary Global/US function and/or drive creation of any additional Market retail marketing needs that aren’t supported via Category Comms Plans  
  • Ensure the Global/Market Brand Calendar is followed throughout year, priority campaigns and stories are prioritized, and Account budgets are allocated accordingly   
  • Report internally on timeliness of deliverables and performance of all Trade Marketing initiatives
  • Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, as well as US and Global counterparts
  • Represent the Brand Activation team during the sell-in process/Pre-Line Meetings to build proposed account plans and present to Accounts as needed  
  • Own agency relationships to ensure programs are executed on budget and they are consistently providing newness and value

  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Excellent command of the English language, with excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Exposure to sales would be an asset


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • University or College Graduate. Major in marketing preferred
  • 2-3 years of post-graduate work experience in marketing or advertising
  • Experience in managing customers, vendors, external agencies 
  • Experience overseeing creative development and production
  • Sporting goods industry knowledge and/or experience an asset
  • Sales experience an asset, but not required
