Assistant Manager, eCommerce Accounts

The Assistant Manager, eCommerce Accounts will be responsible for sustainable profitable and brand share and net sales growth of eCommerce platforms and Marketplace customers including eBay and The Iconic.


The candidate will be the key point of contact, managing all aspect of adidas relationship and developing a long-term partnership to ensure annual sales & profitability targets for assigned online account(s) are exceeded through continuous monitoring financial & performance monitoring, and development and deployment of mitigation plans as required.


In this function, the candidate will be responsible for positively influencing Demand KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and P&L performance through planning, ranging, on-site merchandising and analytics to understand business drivers.


Working in a cross-functional environment with Brand Marketing, Buying, Operations, Merchandising and Supply Chain, this role will be instrumental in ensuring adidas accelerates growth of Digital Platforms and Marketplace accounts.


Additionally, the scope of this role includes identifying and resolving technical bugs and/or errors on the site and improving operational processes, working with global and local teams responsible for systems, tools and processes linking in with eCommerce.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Act as the point of contact, leading all key relationship and account management requirements including account reviews, General Manager/Sales Director meetings, Sales & Marketing meetings, owning the sales process and representing the face of the adidas brand
  • Develop a long-term partnership, identifying mutual needs and priorities to develop and act on relationship investment opportunities
  • Develop and negotiate Joint Business Plan (JBP) including aligned KPIs and targets, actively monitoring progress on the JBP
  • Responsible for delivering the initiative roadmap and implementing, in partnership with Accounts, and taking initiatives to optimize and win across the digital shelf, consumer journey and marketing
  • Regularly input Account specific feedback to Pacific and Global eCommerce/Digital teams to develop the global strategic account plan and drive best practices across Markets
  • Understand the path-to-purchase of consumers on assigned accounts and create tangible actions on how to differentiate adidas product offering, content, and services towards their needs
  • Monitor and report on financial and Digital KPIs of the account, including unique performance metrics
  • Proactively identify opportunities to impact commercial targets, e.g., new products, reactive merchandising
  • Oversee product, inventory, and order feeds between adidas internal systems, middleware providers and partners, troubleshooting issues as they arise. Actively seek improvements to processes to mitigate potential risks in daily trading and improve customer and partner service.
  • Work with the Customer Service and Warehouse teams to meet KPIs for order shipment and maintain adidas eCommerce standards for customers and partners.
  • Management of Product and Catalog maintenance and updates, inventory, and promotional performance
  • Maintain adidas catalogue on partner sites, working with the eCommerce Buyer and DPC/Wholesale teams to ensure range coverage and depth.
  • Management of partner Seller Hubs, including product catalogue, orders, promotion set-up and reporting.
  • Proactive troubleshooting of inventory and product data
  • Addressing consumer inquiries and ad-hoc requests internally
  • Active and reactive approach to managing technical content issues through bug fix/demand process
  • Reporting & analytics, and mitigations/actions based on findings

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • A high degree of computer competency; in particular, the ability to work in numerous applications at one time and correlate information from one application to the next including a basic understanding of different file formats.
  • Experience with content management systems, and an understanding of the system landscape commonly present in an eCommerce environment
  • An understanding of business levers which impact eCommerce commercial success, conversion rate, traffic, average order value and how to positively impact each of these
  • Experience with major web analytics platforms (Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics)
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • The candidate must be self-directed and able to work in a highly flexible and informally structured environment. Exemplary multi-tasking and time management skills are a necessity.
  • An excellent command of the English language, both oral and written, and the ability to effectively communicate and positively influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A clear understanding of best-in-class consumer/visitor experience in the modern digital world, a continually evolving perspective on the optimal consumer journey.
  • CMS/OMS experience (preferred), e.g. Demandware/SFCC, SAP
  • A sound understanding of current and emerging eCommerce technologies and their on-site application


Qualifications (Minimum required education and experience):

  • University degree in the field of Business or equivalent
  • Experience in Sales and account management (or other Digital Wholesale account)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., communication, negotiation, influencing)
  • Proven methodological skills (e.g., business analytics and planning, strategic development)
  • Knowledge of local E-Commerce landscape
  • Experience in leading and managing projects involving diverse sets of stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills required to engage, influence & lead all counterparts
  • Exceptional relationship building and negotiation skills to achieve win-win outcomes with online retailers/platforms
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging change and taking personal ownership
  • Understanding of key Digital success metrics along the consumer journey on- and off-site
  • (Conversion, click-through rate etc.)
  • Understanding of retailer’s financial metrics (sales, inventory, margin, returns etc.)
  • Proficient in MS Office

Experience working on digital content updates & master data
