PURPOSE

Explore and deliver design concepts with impact by achieving disruptive, innovative solutions to improve athletes’ performance. 

Solving problems with code-based solutions that can be prototyped and tested with athletes. 

This will be achieved by contributing innovative design thinking, product solutions and brand platform concepts to fuel the future of the brand. 

Specifically through the use of Computational Design creation methods, generate concepts that will build foundations of brand innovation platforms. 

Fuel multiple concepts through expert computational design combined with exceptional design skills to visually and tangibly bring ideas to life with impact. 

Connect emotionally with our consumer through your design contribution.

Dream and realize concepts that truly push beyond the status quo of the industry. 

Contribute to the design team’s culture and creativity by example and through living our adidas 3C’s behaviours of Collaboration, Confidence, and Creativity.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•    Identify creative spaces and prototype ideas using Computational Design and algorithmic methodologies.
•    Provide scalable and robust software solutions for Computational Design and Engineering workstreams.
•    Support cross functional 4D teams and other developing platforms through imaginative data-driven solutions and support project development.
•    Be at the global forefront of design computing trends and be innovative in their approach and application.
•    Collaborate with Engineering, Sport Science plus other cross functional innovation competencies on athlete focused insights to create meaningful athlete experiences.
•    Plan and conduct meetings and presentations with confidence and professional communication.
•    Follow a high standard of behavior & conduct. 

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

•    Conceive, define, and evolve generative methods that inspire and lead future design.
•    Create and optimize frameworks for integration of data from human interaction, biomechanics, and body measurements to ideate, create and deliver innovative product creation workflows.
•    Bring insight into the design process including creation methods, geometric processing algorithms, digital fabrication and unconventional thinking.
•    Seek and contribute to development of new digital tools and design methods, creating and refining them.
•    Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels within the organization by building relationships with our colleagues, partners, customers and consumers.
•    Functional technical expertise in FW and/or apparel product are a plus, however not essential. 
•    Ability to effectively manage and conduct multiple priority projects proactively.
•    High level of talent, creativity and determination.
•    A passion for Sport and an affinity for creating product experiences that make athlete’s lives better.
•    Fluent in English

 

REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS 

•    Highly proficient in Python, C++, C# or Java. Good command Object Oriented Programming.
•    Experience working with git and code collaboration.
•    Advanced knowledge of computational geometry, computer graphics or numerical algorithm development is a must. Experience interfacing with Grasshopper, Houdini, or other comparable generative design tools is a plus, but not mandatory.
•    Working knowledge of numpy, pandas, scipy.
•    Basic knowledge in Machine Learning is desired.
•    Experience working with large data structures and complex project pipelines.
•    BS in Industrial Design, Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant experience is required.
•    MS in Computer Science or related technical field is plus.
•    Minimum of 4 years of experience in progressive Computational Design.
•    Highly Collaborative and engaged by critique.
•    Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Fluency and confidence in inspiring teammates and clients with data-driven rationale. 
•    Passion for tinkering, learning, and trying out new technologies and hardware.
