Director, Outbound

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Lead a well-trained, highly effective DC outbound team to pick, pack and ship all deliveries to the agreed service levels so as to meet or exceed customer expectations.

 

Key responsibilities/accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the warehouse outbound team to meet daily requirements of all customers’ demands from internal stock movement, picking, packing, shipping and transportation, till the received status at channel ends.
  • Work closely with DC Planning, other DC ops teams and other functional team, to understand forecasted volumes and priorities, and plan outbound people and equipment resources accordingly, to achieve on time in full delivery of all customer orders. Effectively manage shift patterns and number of staff employed through increasing / reducing temporary staff employed in a timely manner to achieve both customer service levels and productivity/cost KPI/safety ensure.
  • Responsible for DC Outbound SOP; take initiatives for making continuous enhancement in process/system
  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to remedy customer needs while improving compliance, minimizing operating cost, and effecting greater customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain inventory integrity by working with Inventory Control Managers, and the team through the execution of effective cycle counting, and the strict adherence of established procedures utilizing MA systems. 
  • Develops, coordinates, and maintains a system for identification, evaluation of team and employee productivity rates utilizing MA systems tools and reports. 
  • Communicate effectively with all peers within the DC ensuring that short term targets are achieved, and necessary long-term improvements are shared and aligned.
  • Engage in and oversee an effective training process of all staff in the DC both at induction but also on going so as to achieve a high performance for both productivity and safety.
  • Ensure the site has good controls in place to provide a healthy and safe place of work for all staff. This includes assignment responsibilities to several key DC staff, to work closely with the site EHS, that covers training and ongoing compliance.
  • Develop mutual back-ups and succession plan; grow talents with coaching, feedback and more exposure.  Establish a high-performing, highly motivated team with a good control of employee turnover.
  • Ensure OB team deliver results meets various adidas company KPI and standard.
  • Ensure keep diving on LEAN saving and LM analysis and meet annual LEAN/LM saving target.

  • Customers (WS/OR/EC), 3PL, MHE vendors, labor vendor, facility IFM vendor, local government etc

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills to motivate a management team and a large workforce, as well as working across functions and with external parties (internal and external customers, 3PL, local government and authorities).
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams from concept to implementation.
  • Excellent experience in vendor management skill and strong execution capability to ensure vendor meets KPI target.
  • Excellent experience in communicating with senior business management and excellent capability in maintaining important customer relationship.
  • Detailed understanding industry trend and dynamic business requirements to timely provide solutions to business.
  • Utilization of best-in-class practice as benchmark to make continuous improvement and reach operations excellence on service level, productivity, and cost against competition.
  • People and result orientation to lead and work with the team to achieve the aligned target.
  • Fluent in English languages both written and verbal, good presentation skills.

 

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or above is required
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both Mandarin and English.
  • Minimum 10-years’ experience in warehouse management, including 3+ years in managing an automated/semi-automated, large-scale distribution facility, with in-depth knowledge of warehouse operations and broad experience in people management.
  • Minimum 5 years in managing a large work force of both office staff and blue-colour workers.

Solid experience in selecting and managing 3PLs.

  • Minimum 3 years in project management, PMP certification would be a plus.
  • LEAN 6 sigma green or black belt would be a plus.
