Director, Search (Paid Search/Feeds/SEO)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

 

As the Director of Search in our Portland-based Digital Marketing team, your primary responsibilities will consist of overseeing our search strategy and optimizing toward performance-based KPIs (traffic generation, revenue, return-on-investment, and cost-of-sale). You will fully support the channel objectives to drive high quality traffic to the US online store while accelerating revenue growth. In addition to Paid Search, Shopping and SEO, you will oversee our Datafeed strategy used across paid media channels (i.e. Google Shopping, Bing Shopping, dynamic remarketing, affiliate, etc.)

 

Collaboration will extend to the global eCommerce Digital Marketing community as well where you will contribute to our global Paid Search/SEO best practices, guidelines and standards with original input and thought leadership from the key US market. With a razor-sharp focus on eCommerce revenue, you will also connect with Brand Marketing and Marketplace teams to fully exploit all search opportunities in the US. You will play an important role within the adidas US Digital Marketing team and collaborate closely with the broader US eCommerce and Global Online Marketing teams to help create a US-based center of excellence. You will be a driver in key partner relationships with Google, Microsoft and Apple.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Devise and implement the eCommerce search strategy for adidas US (Paid Search, Shopping & SEO) across adidas.com and yeezysupply.com
  • Collaborate with Merchandising, Digital Marketing (all channels), Analytics and Marketing Activations teams to create cross-functional synergies
  • Drive testing, reporting, optimization and analysis on search performance to identify key levers and opportunities for improvements
  • Accountable for the phasing and deployment of a multi-million dollar Paid Search budget
  • Manage day-to-day Paid Search operations (including Google & Bing Search/Shopping) to meet KPIs and customer acquisition goals
  • Responsible for top and bottom line growth of our Paid Search program to achieve sales, ROI and total contribution goals
  • Supervise and manage an internally-sourced large team, including planning, assigning/directing workload, and managing performance
  • Align our Paid Search/Feeds efforts with Merchandising/Buyers to ensure that we’re prioritizing inventory that needs marketing support
  • Fortify relationships with Business Units to continuously educate them on the importance of building strong SEO content strategies
  • Collaborate with Brand Activation to align our SEO deployment strategies with product lifecycles & launches
  • Manage our Online Marketing product feed used to power feed-based media channels
  • Monitor SEO/Paid Search/Shopping/Feeds marketing trends, best practices, technologies and techniques so that we’re able to adapt and quickly implement new features where possible
  • Partner closely with the audience manager to find synergies across all traffic touchpoints

  • Global eCommerce Online Marketing team, Amsterdam (especially paid search and feeds experts)
  • US Brand/Digital Marketing team, Portland
  • Google, Microsoft, Apple and any other relevant search engines

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Experience in planning and managing large budgets allocated across multiple search engines and campaigns
  • Proven search skills, optimization and bid management techniques with experience managing high volume growth targets for complex paid search campaigns
  • Experience with SearchAds360knowledge of other paid search tools (such as Marin and Kenshoo) is a plus.
  • Experience with web analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics & Adobe Analytics)
  • SEO tools and platforms (Google Search Console, Microsoft Excel, Searchmetrics, BrightEdge, Screaming Frog, Moz, Xenu, ec.)
  • An interest in exploiting technology (feeds, scripts and the like) to automate and scale key processes
  • Experience managing and motivating others either directly or indirectly
  • Ambitious and profit-oriented with a passion for eCommerce and the search landscape
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong relationships quickly as a result of a team-first mentality
  • Strong time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Diligence, accuracy, attention to detail and a strong work ethic

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 6+ years hands-on Paid Search and SEO experience (either client or agency side)
  • Advanced computer skills with proven Excel experience
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • English language fluency
