Director DC Optimization (m/f/d)

Purpose

Drive the global SCM optimization roadmap together with operations. Your objective will be to facilitate the setup of a performant distribution network, that drives best in class processes, delivers excellent service to our customers while driving a competitive cost base.

 

Key Accountabilities

Target & Roadmap                  

  • Together with Director Basics, define annual global DC Optimization roadmap in sync with adidas SCM Strategy - work with markets to define annual targets
  • Work with DC Managers to develop and maintain annual DC Optimization roadmaps
  • Drive demand and annual budget process for DC Optimization area, ensure connection with market demand and link to targets

 

Optimization & Innovation

  • Manage implementation of global optimization levers incl. Labor Mgnt system, Staffing tool, Automation - ensure on time in full delivery to operations
  • Identify, develop, plan and drive implementation of new global optimization levers incl. incubation, proof of concepts, vendor selection, roll-out
  • Engage with our strategic suppliers network (3PL, Knapp, Dematic, etc.) to discover new technologies, voice our needs, develop joint innovation roadmaps

 
System Ownership

  • Define and own system requirements needs (as per market and business needs) – coordinate with IT System owner for implementation
  • Define system deployment roadmap in collaboration with IT system owner and markets; ensure on-time in-full implementation

 

Data Management

  • Own and maintain global productivity database incl. productivity measures, list of initiatives, etc. - drive analysis
  • Develop business cases for productivity initiatives
  • Liaise with Finance on efficiency gains, translation into savings and BC

 
People Management

  • Build the appropriate structure to be able to manage the respective organization effectively, identify and develop the future talents and create realistic succession scenarios for key positions
  • Ensure appropriate leadership skills are present at every level by creating a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained and provided with career opportunities through development
  • Provide team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and SCM objectives

Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience

  • Good knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of operational performance management, Lean, Continuous Improvement principles
  • Recognized leader
  • Ability to provide a clear framework for performance to direct reports
  • Pro-active (engaging & impact-oriented) mindset, ability to think end-to-end with a global mindset
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex data and develop innovative solutions
  • Ability to be self-directed while working under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with different international cultures
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and facilitation skills (small and large groups) especially when interacting with different levels of business
  • Ability to travel, domestic or international, as required
  • Fluent English (verbal and written),
  • Strong MS-Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 
Qualifications

  1. Four-year college or university degree with focus on Supply Chain Management
  2. Minimum 10+ year experience in leadership and managing remote teams
  3. Minimum 5+ year experience in applying Lean, continuous  improvement concepts
  4. Strong experience with Distribution Center processes; ideally acted as a DC lead for minimum 5 years
  5. Sound understanding of warehouse management (WMS) and labor management systems
