Director Design Strategy - Germany or NL

  1. General Purpose

As a Director Design Digital Strategy at adidas Digital you are responsible for the definition of the strategic direction for digital that drives value creation and acceleration of the business through digitalization. You strive for desirable, viable and feasible strategies that maximize value for our brand. In this context, you will co-define strategy for Digital at adidas and lead explorative work on how consumers experience the brand across touchpoints, drive  the definition and validate the optimization or introduction of new business models to capture value and identify the enablers that would be required to inform the evolution of the digital ecosystem, in collaboration with stakeholders in the business.

 

 

  1. Key Responsibilities 

Scope:  Accountable for the evolution of digital strategy scope within the digital ecosystem

 

  1. Value creation and acceleration through digitalization
  • Drive continuous exploration and validation of experience-led value propositions enabled through digital.
  • Shape the boundaries of the experience for consumers across the ecosystem based on consumer attitudes and behavior, business positioning and in the context of the competitive landscape and state of capabilities.
  • Drive the evolution of business models enabled through digitalization.
  • Implement and evolve a systematic approach to gain and share meaningful and actionable digital insights as a foundation for executable strategies.
     
  1. Ecosystem Design & Evolution
  • Drive the experience strategy and evolution of the ecosystem within the assigned scope by leading and orchestrating concept work that translates strategic business opportunities into digital capabilities and into clear deliverables for DBC.
  • Define the evolution of cohesive value propositions for consumers throughout their interaction with the brand across touchpoints, leveraging digital capabilities and maximizing impact for adidas.
  • Drive the usage of frameworks that enable awareness and facilitate understanding, development and delivery of consumer value propositions across the ecosystem.
  • Assess impact on the evolution of the ecosystem by identifying gaps and future capabilities. Ensure the integration of these into the digital roadmap within the assigned scope.
  • Represent the experience strategy, consumer value proposition and ecosystem evolution within the assigned scope towards Digital and its counterparts throughout the organization.
     
  1. Orchestration & Success Measurement
  • Ensure efficient transition to execution, maximizing impact of the strategy within the given budget and timeframes.
  • Partner with all domain- and business stakeholders to deploy the strategy across online touch points within the assigned scope.
  • Consult and collaborate on strategic design matters concerning the experience ecosystem, such as experience integration, holistic storytelling, consumer focus, value propositions, touch-point experience and business modelling.

  • Create a supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained and provided with career opportunities through development.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of data and team feedback and make appropriate changes in order to meet business needs.
  • Provide team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and DBC objectives.

  1. Requirements
  1. Education & Professional Experience
  • University degree in the field of Business strategy & Innovation and/or Strategic design
  • 10+ years of professional experience in multi-national business environment
  • 5-6 years of experience in a Digital and/or eCommerce environment, strong knowledge of the digital industry (products, technologies, solution providers, commercial models, trends)
  • Strong understanding of all digital touchpoints and their respective consumer, business and technology aspects
  • 3-5 years of experience in strategy function, track record of driving consumer facing products and services from innovation stage to market launch on a global level
  • Experience in managing a team is a plus

  • Business minded with strong technical background
  • Ability to cope well with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Very good communication skills, comfortable presenting complex topics to stakeholders at various organizational levels both in person and remotely
  • Very good leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to efficiently work in a cross-functional organization, ability to develop influential and collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders from digital and non-digital disciplines on all levels.

  • Advanced understanding of UX/UI practices
  • Advanced understanding of IT
  • Fluent in English both verbally and written and fluent in another European language
