Director Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, GCA & APAC

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Consult and work with the senior leadership team, business groups, and other HR colleagues as lead of DEI subject matter experts within the market teams to build an inclusive and diverse culture and workforce while supporting the hiring, developing, and retaining of diverse talent. Support, development and execution of the Market Diversity and Inclusion strategy, messaging, and programs in alignment with HR strategy, People Strategy and the Global Diversity Team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Team and DEI Initiatives through a partnership model with business units, HR, employee resource groups, leadership, and others to tell a holistic and unified story and activations
  • Design and implement a holistic, GCA & APAC wide local market strategy and concepts strategy applying macro-trends, research, analysis, and benchmarks -in concert with global DEI strategy and in partnership with regional HR and key partners
  • Translate the broader DEI strategy into progressive practices and programs that reflect the best expertise in this space - from increasing representation to ensuring adidas has an inclusive culture that truly reflects our values and creates a sense of belonging for all
  • Develop an implementation plan for key priorities ensuring we meet internal and external commitments and embed DEI goals in the Divisional and Functional strategies, aligning with the adidas strategy and business focus.
  • Increase Leadership competency and active allyship through partnerships with L&D to create content that support growth of leaders and allies through education.
  • Support any concepts using data to design initiatives that will enable sustainable progress and to drive accountability through clear objectives and transparent metrics
  • Establish, track, report and analyze company diversity metrics to measure effectiveness against set HR KPIs (critical metrics)
  • Plan and lead approach to ensure equity in core processes, policies and resources regionally
  • Influence and build trust-based relationships with senior leadership, management and peers across adidas. Manage sensitive employee cases with the right level of judgement and expertise.
  • Drive the further development of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion innovation, concepts, strategies, and implementation while championing DEI in the adidas HR Strategy resulting in key programs and projects
  • Build and enhance initiatives to support hiring, retention and development of diverse talent through active research and benchmarking
  • Create alignment and continuity across senior management, internal customers, the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Team, external service contractors, community organizations and governments to ensure accountability
  • Underline and drive relevance of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion through strong communication and transparency in close collaboration with internal and external Communication
  • Report progress periodically and on request to (executive) leadership
  • Building out a local engagement strategy aligned to global brand moments such as Pride, but also locally relevant cultural moments
  • Budgeting for community engagement activities (across volunteering, fundraiser matching, strategic sponsorship agreements) in alignment with the global community impact team
  • Align with Global DEI to share best practices of local projects and initiatives
  • Gain local Senior Leader advocacy for activations with key volunteering initiatives
  • Influence and partner with key leaders to ensure our culture promotes inclusivity and belonging broadly, while also maintaining a sense of local identity in various locations
  • Work with key leaders and partners to design and implement DEI goals and initiatives focused on all areas of the employee experience, including: recruiting, retention, succession and leadership development
  • Work with key leaders and partners to improve diversity, equity & inclusion in other key areas of the business, including: brand, social impact and communications
  • Oversee Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), providing guidance and direction and ensuring these groups have the appropriate resources and level of influence
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to grow the capabilities of team members and establish adidas a destination for strong DEI talents
  • Represent adidas at internal and external events, fostering strategic partnerships

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of years of progressive experience in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in successful partnering with Employee Resource Groups
  • International, cross-functional and intercultural experience
  • Consistent track record of leading and implementing large-scale global or regional programs and projects
  • Experience leading highly functional teams
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic workforce management preferred
  • Experience building and managing a diversity, equity & inclusion strategy and plans, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Experience working with vendors to deliver results for the business
  • A proven track record of facilitating company-level initiatives with multiple stakeholders, including senior level leaders
