Director Domain Architecture (m/f/d) - Sales Domain/ S4HANA

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:


Domain Architecture develops the architecture design principles for a particular line of business which requires good knowledge of integration frameworks and patterns. They take care of communicating those to the organization leveraging their coaching and mentoring abilities in order to elicit and manage the required behavioral change at all levels, including senior management.


Key Responsibilities:


Specialist advice

  • Actively maintains knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.
  • Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of their specialism(s) to the organization’s planning and operations.
  • Recognizes and identifies the boundaries of their own specialist knowledge.
  • Collaborates with other specialists, where appropriate, to ensure advice given is appropriate to the needs of the organization.


Emerging technology monitoring

  • Supports monitoring of the external environment and assessment of emerging technologies to evaluate the potential impacts, threats and opportunities to the organization.
  • Contributes to the creation of reports, technology road mapping and the sharing of knowledge and insights.


Solution architecture

  • Contributes to the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas.
  • Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability.
  • Produces specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers and interfaces, for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
  • Supports a change program or project through the preparation of technical plans and application of design principles that comply with enterprise and solution architecture standards (including security).


Business analysis

  • Investigates operational requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.
  • Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives, and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems, and identifies options for consideration.
  • Works with stakeholders, to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration, and in defining acceptance tests.
  • Contributes to selection of the business analysis methods, tools and techniques for projects; selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.


Business modelling

  • Conducts advanced modelling activities for significant change programs and across multiple business functions.
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of organization-standard techniques.
  • Plans own modelling activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives.
  • May contribute to discussions about the choice of the modelling approach to be used.
  • Obtains input from and communicates modelling results to senior managers for agreement.


Requirements and definition management

  • Contributes to selection of the requirements approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
  • Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity.
  • Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritization of requirements. Reviews requirements for errors and omissions.
  • Establishes the requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
  • Investigates, manages, and applies authorized requests for changes to base-lined requirements, in line with change management policy.


Systems design

  • Designs components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology.
  • Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs.
  • Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the architecture and to handle both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Models, simulates or prototypes the behavior of proposed systems components to enable approval by stakeholders.
  • Produces detailed design specification to form the basis for construction of systems.
  • Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications.


System integration and build

  • Provides technical expertise to enable the configuration of software, other system components and equipment for systems testing.
  • Collaborates with technical teams to develop and agree system integration plans and report on progress.
  • Defines complex/new integration builds.
  • Ensures that integration test environments are correctly configured.
  • Designs, performs and reports results of tests of the integration build.
  • Identifies and documents system integration components for recording in the configuration management system.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to processes and tools.



  • Manages the innovation pipeline and executes innovation processes.
  • Develops, evolves and adapts innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation.
  • Identifies resources and capabilities needed to support innovation.
  • Encourages and motivates innovation communities, teams and individuals to share creative ideas and learn from failures.
  • Manages and facilitates the communication and open flow of creative ideas between interested parties and the set-up of innovation networks and communities.


Business risk management

  • Investigates and reports on hazards and potential risk events within a specific function or business area.


Data management

  • Takes responsibility for the accessibility, retrievability, security, quality, retention and ethical handling of specific subsets of data.
  • Assesses the integrity of data from multiple sources.
  • Provides advice on the transformation of data/information from one format or medium to another.
  • Maintains and implements information handling procedures.
  • Enables the availability, integrity and searchability of information through the application of formal data and metadata structures and protection measures.
  • Manipulates specific data from information services, to satisfy defined information needs.



Key Technologies:

The ideal candidate would have solution architecture experience with few of the following:

  • SAP S/4 Hana, SAP Retail, Integration with respect to several SAP data objects. Additional experience with ERP modules (eg. SD, MM) would be an advantage.
  • IBM Sterling OMS (Or similar) – Omnichannel solutions
  • Wholesales (B2B) solutions
  • AWS enterprise solutions

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:


  • Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration or IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient spoken and written command of English
  • At least 10 -year experience in IT
  • 7 years of experience in relevant area
  • 5 years of experience in team management including professional
  • International Experience - ideally working abroad and mobile in leadership roles for multiple years and has functional/market experience in projects with a local/global perspective
  • Participated in a global project execution/ significant contribution to local/functional project
