Director Finance WHS Controlling & Planning

Purpose

The position supports the management of budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes for US Wholesale, Team Services and Canada Wholesale in close collaboration with the Sr Finance Director WHS & Sales leadership team. Cornerstone activities for this role include driving horizontal activities around end-to-end planning, reporting and controlling and provides state-of-the-art analyses to inform decision-making. Leads the coordination and development of financial planning & forecasting across US WHS, Canada WHS and Team Services.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Supports the management of financials plans, targets, and controls on achieving desired financial business objectives for NAM Wholesale.
  • Drives NAM Wholesale cost efficiencies and ensure holistic, high-quality analyses and information.
  • Analyzes proposed business risks, opportunities and pending decisions to determine impact on financial results, including post-mortems on outcomes.
  • Manages consolidation activities for planning, controlling and reporting/analytics for US Wholesale, Canada Wholesale & Team Services.
  • Key player in strategic business plans developed with key customers in the US market to implement corporate strategic plans in the market and increase market share.
  • Serves as a financial and business consultant to the US Wholesale, Canada Wholesale and Team Services channels in developing, outlining, evaluating, and executing on business model changes.
  • Runs financial models to evaluate new business opportunities and to analyse current business performance for NAM Wholesale.
  • Manages the relationship and service levels between WHS Finance and corporate support functions such as FP&A, Brand Finance, Operations, Retained Accounting, GBS, Credit and Global functions.
  • Partners with Sr Director’s & VPs across US Wholesale, Canada Wholesale and Team Services to provide top notch accurate data & insights and ensures compliance and other standards are achieved.
  • Provides leadership and consultation for direct reports to ensure continuous talent development and increased Wholesale acumen for the adidas US and Canada organization.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge in Finance and Accounting and high-level understanding and proven track record with retail math and retail financial drivers.
  • Ability to be detail oriented and manage multiple priorities to accomplish assignments simultaneously under tight timelines.
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize the most complex data and develop creative and innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to information requests from Senior Executives including impactful storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to coach, manage, align, motivate and develop direct reports
  • Strong indirection leadership capabilities and influencing skills
  • Ability to execute scenario planning and post-mortems for diverse commercial finance challenges and opportunities

 

Qualifications (Minimum required education and experience):

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business; CPA or MBA is a plus
  • Ten years’ experience in financial planning or analysis with progressive responsibility
  • Minimum of three years successfully leading, managing, and developing a team
  • Will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience
  • Wholesale Finance experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced excel skills required
  • Solid accounting skills and experience
  • Familiarity with SAP and other relevant adidas and/or industry Finance systems/analytical software
