Director Finance

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:


Proactive strategic role in improving the ‘business health’ and protecting the interests of the shareholder with direct responsibility in Controlling and Finance and any other responsibilities that may be added over time


Key Responsibilities:


Business Partner Role

    • Establishing company/brand strategies and proper business activities.  Provide accurate and appropriate information for decision making. Develop the necessary follow-up procedures to ensure agreed actions are implemented
    • Coordinates and consult with General Manager in all financial & business aspects. Oversee the adequacy and soundness of the organization’s finance structures
    • Support Wholesale Teams as well as the adidas Own Retail Team in driving their daily business by providing adequate regular and ad hoc reports, customer overviews, prepare BPMs, help to define detailed action plans to address business issues e.g. stock turn improvements etc.
    • Develop and drive efficiency initiatives to constantly improve the service given to the business
    • Provide comprehensive and relevant information to help the business taking the right decisions e.g. comparing different business models, profitability calculations for new store decisions
    • Constantly work with external stakeholders such as suppliers, banks and customers to improve the performance environment of the business i.e. negotiations with landlords, identifying efficiency potentials with banks and working with customers to achieve all cash collection targets but yet also addressing customer’s needs.
      FP&A + Accounting
    • Direct and coordinate the preparation of budget programs
    • Provide accurate monthly financial reporting to the Group and/or MEM Controlling Team including a timely submission in GRAPE.
    • Monitor the financial KPIs, address certain shortcomings to local Management and help the business to develop respective solutions.
    • Ensure that the Accounting is in line with Group/IFRS/local standards.
    • Lead and drive the Accounting Team to constantly challenge the status quo and to drive efficiency initiatives e.g. process automation for supplier invoices processing.
    • Quickly react on ad hoc requests coming from either the Group or MEM Controlling Team.
    • Plan and implement systems to facilitate and/or control as per requirements of the company. If required to develop systems locally to take care of special needs
    • Share best practices with other countries.
      Credit Management/Treasury
    • Ensure that the risk appetite of the company is reflected in the credit management practices
    • Closely work together with key customers to address day-to-day problems and ensure a smooth yet risk controlled invoicing process.
    • Monitor AR KPIs and define adequate action steps to ensure that the Company’s targets are met.
    • Deliver high quality information in relation to all Group Treasury initiatives e.g. Bank Account Manager (BAM), Liquidity Planner (12 months direct cash flow planning).
      People Management
  • Lead a Finance Team
  • Ensure that the Employees are engaged to a high level by providing an excellent environment for performance

  • Finance counterparts of key customers
  • Banks; auditors

    • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop Finance & Office Management team
      Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
    • University degree in business management
    • More than 7 years of functional experience in finance department and at least 3 years of leadership experience
    • International experience and track record
    • Preferably knowledge of adidas Group organization and processes
    • Language skills: fluent in English spoken and written
