Director HR Programs x 2 (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

As a Director, HR Programs your task is to manage and deliver HR programs and large-scale and complex projects.  The role objective is to conduct the projects within the boundaries of time, cost & quality while focusing on business and HR expectations and requirements.  

You will be able to quickly understand the context of the organization in a broader perspective, including changes that take place outside the realm of both the programs themselves and the immediate HR operational area.

You will have a proven track record of leading teams and will be able to provide coaching, guidance, direction, and leadership to the project teams in relation to various issues, risks, activities, general management, and project approach.

In addition, you will act as a strategic advisor for People elements with dynamic consulting, planning and focus on seamless and consistent execution to accelerate the execution of the adidas People Strategy and HR roadmap.  This all while ensuring strong communication, exceptional collaboration and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage project teams which deliver global HR programs and large-scale projects to execute the adidas People Strategy and HR roadmap: 

1.    Project/ Program Delivery

  • Deliver projects & programs end-to-end successfully, from ideation to delivery.
  • Oversee development of detailed plans that provide transparency on progress and identify risks in a timely manner
  • Identify economically beneficial opportunities for HR function within the project & program scope and raise them to the HR Leadership
  • Support Project Managers in foreseeing interdependencies between technology, operations, business needs and other projects, and escalating dependency issues proactively and co-create solutions to solve issues
  • Offer solutions effective in meeting set targets and satisfying business and HR requirements
  • Oversee project portfolio
  • Gather approvals and funding
  • Allocate resources to project
  • Supervise project managers
  • Lead development teams as they design the products that come out of projects
  • Monitor project plans and adjust to keep the project on track

2.    Resource Planning

  • Form, lead, manage and monitor multi-functional team resources (internals as well as externals) to deliver HR projects & programs.
  • Oversee simultaneous alignment and allocation of financial, material, and human resource capabilities required to successfully complete a project & programs.
  • Partner with other function as well as Supplier Management/ Procurement department in order to manage suppliers for the projects & programs in scope, e.g., interviews, staffing, supplier costs.

3.    People Management 

  • Ensure appropriate leadership skills are present at every level by creating a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained and provided with career opportunities through development.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT systems, data and analysis and team feedback and make appropriate changes in order to meet HR and business needs.
  • Provide team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with HR strategy objectives.

4. Strategic Planning Process and HR portfolio

  • Develop and orchestrate the demand & delivery process with consistent standards
  • Translate adidas People & HR Strategy into key programs and projects, drive Strategic workforce Planning and orchestrate key strategic initiatives and align strategy execution
  • Develop a employee listening concept and drive the implementation of this strategic initiative
  • Develop, lead and manage the central project manager pool for HR in terms of staff/people development, budget and demand planning

5.    Consultation & Communication

  • Act as the key contact person for strategic stakeholders as well as Works Council.
  • Apply appropriate and effective communication methods in working with senior HR and business management and important stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project steering committees for key initiatives to ensure alignment, consistency and quality of project deliverables.
  • Ensure transparency across key initiatives within the HR and People Strategies (i.e., about project goals, benefits, status quo vs. initial roadmaps, resource bottlenecks etc.)
  • Ensure the appropriate Change Management requirements and resources are identified and that projects are properly staffed.

 6.    Project Controlling & Compliance

  • Manage project controlling as an independent element to ensure that actual project costs are in line the committed budget.
  • Ensure compliance to project management standards, e.g. -PM methodology, Act as an internal consulting unit in with a consistent project management (PM) approach and tools based on best practice and HR expertise.
  • Lead or conduct engagement reviews. Verify implementation of quality assurance procedures. Ensure project & program delivery against program KPIs.
  • Oversee project & program business case and variables (cost, effort, scope, etc.) against plan in order to implement corrective or preventive actions.

  • Experienced in new ways of working specifically agile methods (Kanban, Sprints, Stand-Ups)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a global management consulting business and relevant work experience in HR
  • University Degree in Business or related field
  • Proven strong track record in change and project management as well as process excellence
  • MBA in a field related to change or project management and / or process excellence is an advantage
