Purpose:  

 

Acts as a “Strategic Business Partner” and “Coach” to the organization in all relevant HR management issues and lead an HR team to provide the best HR strategies and services to attract, develop, motivate and retain the best talent.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Takes active part in the design of the HR Commercial strategy and manages the execution and control of the plan within Retail HR for the respective support areas in coordination with global partners where applicable. Ensures harmonized implementation of strategies across all relevant locations of functional support.
  • Maintains a high level of communication across Retail management and contributes to the decision-making process by structuring and preparing HR team to best support the organization. Actively supports business initiatives and business needs with effective HR measures to promote positive employee relations in the work environment.
  • Ensures all aspects of staffing, employee relations, employee development, compensation & benefits for all employees of the adidas are delivered in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant labor/commercial legislation, corporate guidelines and modern HR Management practices.
  • In close co-ordination with Talent Management and global partners, supports and drives development initiatives in the areas of Training, career/succession planning and other Organizational Development efforts.
  • Ensures smooth processes for recruitment and transfer activities for support functions in close cooperation with global colleagues and assist in the recruitment for 1st and 2nd Line management for designated partnerships.
  • Manages personnel planning, annual salary rounds and promotions/salary adjustments for defined areas in accordance with Rewards processes.
  • Lead HR team members to give functional direction on global and regional strategies ensuring a harmonized approach to all relevant HR programs (one voice to the customer).

 

Employee Relations

  • Partner with Retail VP’s and Sr Store Director to review, manage and optimize team performance through Performance Management, Succession Planning and Employee Development for strategic management changes
  • Drive all communication plans for all strategic change and support the implementation of organization design change initiatives.
  • Track and report on key information pertaining to succession planning, turnover trends, market compensation and employee relations
  • Monitor and escalate the pulse and health of the organization through identifying trends to assess and diagnose the needs of the business based on trends across markets, perform risk analysis of stores and use info to inform Sr. HR Dir to influence training needs
  • Manages especially high-level or sensitive matters while applying effective mediation and problem-resolution techniques with a solid understanding of company policy and practice.  Ensuring decisions are consistent with adidas policy to limit potential liability and enhance processes
  • Drive and advocate for the retail people strategy in ensuring it both meets adidas Global standards and is adapted appropriately
  • Provide direction and guidance to store leaders and HR Managers on the interpretation and consistent application of adidas policies, programs, initiatives on labor and employment issues/trends and employee relation needs to ensure they are creating and maintaining a positive and consistent employee relations environment
  • Ensure HR Managers lead the administration of unemployment issues, Affirmative Action, and ADA accommodations
  • Provides support to the Sr. Dir HR in response to and/or resolution of EEOC, DOL, OFCCP and other labor and employment claims

 

Talent Development / Workforce Planning

  • Partners with Retail leadership team and Store Leaders on the development and execution of their staffing plan to ensure internal pipeline of management candidates meet the demands of projected growth
  • Drive the strategic execution of people development through quarterly pulse checks, midyear reviews, annual review, talent and succession discussion and SHINE activities.
  • Identify employee development opportunities and implement education and training on tools, resources and partners as to promote self-sufficiency and leadership capabilities
  • As needed, delivers training on a quarterly basis for store leaders

 

HR Administration /Processes

  • Build alliances with management and establish a valuable consultative role within the organization at all levels within the Retail to ensure HR initiatives, programs, and policies are fully understood and implemented within the Retail 
  • Drive and support company/Retail HR initiatives
  • Educate employees on Company policies and procedures
  • Solves routine problems in HR: takes initiative to modify procedures, policies, systems and processes as appropriate

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to establish a strong rapport and professional credibility with individuals in order to influence at all levels of the organization, especially senior management.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Ability to handle complicated employee relations issues including union drives/organizing attempts, discrimination claims, sexual harassment investigations and downsizing.
  • Must possess strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills to assess data, facts, and figures used to develop strategies designed to improve the business and see hidden problems.
  • High degree of understanding in retail sales metrics and profit drivers, financial reports and retail business acumen
  • Comfortable operating under high workload and juggling competing priorities
  • Advanced MS Office Skills and ability to learn and understand database concepts (SAP)
  • Ability to function independently and problem solve with minimal direction
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Excellent influence, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, follow-up and creative solution generation skills
  • Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills to all employees including senior management.
  • Ability to coach, guide, manage and develop direct reports. 
  • Ability to effectively delegate work as appropriate and provide individual goals and development plans to staff.
  • Travel as needed to support a store base of approximately 150 plus locations, in some cases with limited or no notice.

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Four-year college or university degree with emphasis in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Personnel Administration or other related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in multi-national Human Resources Management
  • Proven strategic HR business partner, with experience supporting business partners and contributing to the further development of standard/global HR tools and programs
  • Previous HR experience in a larger, corporate structure, matrixed company environment preferred
  • Prior experience working with Retail; relevant industry experience highly preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree
