Director Risk Management

Purpose - As a Director for Risk Management & Fraud Prevention you will be responsible to lead the end to end execution of Risk Management and fraud prevention for our global digital business. The key focus of this role will be to drive Digital Business growth by developing and implementing new fraud initiatives, including but not limited to Risk Management & Fraud Prevention Strategy ownership, selection and management of best in class fraud solutions and enhancing the global risk management process in key markets across our consumer touchpoints. A key lever to enable adidas’ future growth plans are excellent backend processes, with payments and risk management as core components.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the risk management & fraud strategy and all projects for the global digital business, in close collaboration with the business functions, IT and the markets.
  • Responsible to drive the implementation, with a focus on implementing initiatives globally with a 2-3 year outlook.
  • Based on the strategy, leads business areas and teams accountable for risk management & fraud projects, working closely with IT, product owners and functional areas to support development and delivery of the program.
  • Establishes SLAs, manages performance & monitoring with all risk related technology partners
  • Partner with markets to align best practice for risk management & fraud prevention approach - and ensure solutions are delivered that meet business objectives.
  • Lead governance activities of local risk management solutions
  • Define and lead change management of risk management & fraud prevention projects within the organization including documentation of knowledge/processes, in close collaboration with business stakeholders and change management team.
  • Continuous monitoring of risk management & fraud prevention results and industry developments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements relevant to the regional focus
  • Acting as key partner to interface with Internal Audit and Cybercrime departments to help manage the audit process including action item follow-up and reporting.

Omnichannel Payments Team, Digital Teams, Market Retail and eCom teams, IT teams, Treasury, Finance, Profit Protection, Info Security Team


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • You are a leader. Having previously demonstrated the ability to lead mid-to-large sized teams across multiple geographies.
  • You are a collaborator. Enthusiastic personality with the ability to work well under pressure in an ever-changing environment
  • Expert in CNP risk management processes and systems
  • Strong story telling skills: The successful candidate would have the ability to pull together various stands of data, and develop the story that translates into real world actions
  • Strong analytical skills: The successful candidate would have strong ability to manipulate data, question its validity, interpret it, and develop recommendations based on it. SQL Experience an advantage
  • Experiencing in applying machine learning technologies is a plus
  • Ability to articulate fact-based strategies and drive their execution
  • Comfortable in leading teams through ambiguous situations
  • Experienced in managing relationships at all levels within an organization
  • Fluent in English
  • Additional languages are an advantage


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree and/or commercial training in the area of Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing or Sales is preferred
  • 7-10 years payments risk management experience, proven project management experience implementing payments risk solutions
