Director Climate Change (GOPS Central Sustainability Team) (m/f/d)


The sustainability team at adidas creates sustainability intelligence and enablers to create transparency and informed decisions. This team is giving guidance to the company to the current 2025 sustainable business plan implementation and giving the direction on beyond 2025 sustainability topics.  

The team is made up of talented and passionate sustainability experts with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are at the forefront of influencing and shaping the sustainability journey of adidas and of the sporting goods industry overall. Working across all functions and creating next generation impactful and innovative sustainability strategy. 



  • Lead development and execution of the company’s road to net zero and its climate change and decarbonization strategy.
  • Own and further define carbon reporting strategies for frameworks such as SBTi, CDP SBT for Nature, TCFD
  • Co-lead cross-functional worktreams with sourcing, innovation, product creation, own operations to accelerate decarbonization and climate change related topics
  • Lead workstreams with TCFD and other reporting frameworks
  • Lead a team of analytics experts and continue growing the team to enable the companies targets and talent development
  • Create performance metrics, benchmark, bold roadmaps and solutions
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders like supply chain team, product development teams, own operations and others.
  • Influence decision makers in the company to ensure alignment towards 2025 and 2030 targets
  • Educate and inform key stakeholders.
  • Represent adidas in industry working groups on decarbonization and climate change and including creating and driving standard


This role requires strong climate change expertise and is great opportunity to help shape adidas climate change and decarbonization journey as well influence the industry.

The role reports to the Senior Director Sustainability Direction. It is an unique opportunity to become part of a team that influences the overall company’s sustainability strategy and direction on key topics like climate change, decarbonization and energy.

  • Strong expertise in environmental science, especially on the topics of decarbonization, climate change, biodiversity and energy
  • Knowledge of footwear, apparel and accessories manufacturing
  • Strong expert network in the area sustainability
  • Strong expertise in stakeholder, industry associations engagement and building successful industry collaborations
  • Ability to coach, guide and manage a team
  • Pragmatic approach of leading programs/projects and proven track record in lead largescale initiatives.
  • Creative, energetic, and innovative approach to identifying solutions.
  • Effective as a collaborator in complex internal and external organizations
  • Excellent communication (writing and presentations) skills in English. Other languages are a plus




  1. Four-year university degree, preferably master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability management, climate science, engineering or related fields
  2. Minimum 12 years’ work experience in sustainability ideally with a focus on climate change, decarbonization, energy.
