Director Tech (Ecommerce IT process)
Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
This role is responsible of leading the team in charge of planning, installing and configurating software solutions and systems. This leader must be capable to support employees with specific applications and provide expert advisory. Also analyzes information systems of adidas and individualizes specific system solutions to meet the demand of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Consultancy
- Takes responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution.
- Identifies, evaluates, and recommends options, implementing if required.
- Collaborates with, and facilitates stakeholder groups, as part of formal or informal consultancy agreements.
- Seeks to fully address client needs, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of client personnel, by ensuring that proposed solutions are properly understood and appropriately exploited.
Specialist advice
- Actively maintains recognized expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.
- Provides definitive and expert advice in their specialist area(s).
- Oversees the provision of specialist advice by others, consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organizational objectives.
- Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organization.
Business analysis
- Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organization change.
- Selects, adopts, and adapts appropriate business analysis methods, tools, and techniques, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
- Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels, in the conduct of investigations for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.
- Prepares business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.
Requirements definition and management
- Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for large, complex initiatives.
- Selects, adopts, and adapts appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
- Obtains input from, and formal agreement to, requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Negotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts.
- Establishes requirements baselines.
- Ensures changes to requirements are investigated and managed.
- Contributes to the development of organizational methods and standards.
Systems design
- Designs components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodology.
- Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs.
- Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders of the architecture and to handle both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Models, simulates, or prototypes the behavior of proposed systems components to enable approval by stakeholders.
- Produces detailed design specification to form the basis for construction of systems.
- Reviews, verifies, and improves own designs against specifications.
Systems integration and build
- Provides technical expertise to enable the configuration of software, other system components and equipment for systems testing.
- Collaborates with technical teams to develop and agree system integration plans and report on progress.
- Defines complex/new integration builds.
- Ensures that integration test environments are correctly configured.
- Designs, performs, and reports results of tests of the integration build.
- Identifies and documents system integration components for recording in the configuration management system.
- Recommends and implements improvements to processes and tools.
Porting/software configuration
- Leads a team, providing expert technical knowledge in the systems testing of platform- specific versions of the software products, on varying platforms.
- Provides specialist guidance information to support, systems testing and quality assurance functions to assist in improving procedures.
Application support
- Maintains application support processes and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
- Uses application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports.
People Management / Resource Management
- Responsible for salary reviews, recruitment, selection, assessment, on-boarding and transitioning of resources.
- Manages the effective implementation of resource planning, recruitment, selection, assessment, on-boarding and transitioning of resources.
- Advises on standards, methods, and tools for resource management.
- Ensures compliance with relevant statutory or external regulations and codes of good practice.
- Contributes to the development of resource management policies, standards, and guidelines and to audits and assessment of resource management processes.
- Ensures appropriate leadership skills are present at every level through creating a motivational and supportive work environment in which employees are coached, trained, and provided with career opportunities through development
- Allocates the different work to the respective employees considering experience, complexity, workload, and organizational efficiency
- Continuously monitors and evaluates team workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT systems, data and analysis and team feedback and makes appropriate changes to meet business needs.
- Provides team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and GIT objectives
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- Four-year college or university degree with focus on Business Administration or IT or related areas, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- REQUIRED: Proficient spoken and written command of English
- REQUIRED: Previous experience and understanding of tech concepts
- REQUIRED: Previous experience as people manager, leading teams of at least 7 people
- REQUIRED: Previous experience working with ecommerce related projects and consumer facing technologies (marketplaces, B2B Ecomm platform)
- REQUIRED: Working experience with international teams
