Director eCommerce Buying, SS

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

 As the Buying Director, she/he will be responsible for managing and developing the merchandising plans for Originals and NEO brand in online business. Primary goal of this person would be to have merchandising plans to achieve the overall financial objectives of while in alignment overall BU and CTC priorities with the flexibility to adopt changes. 

Your overarching objective is to manage a team that builds and forecasts the most relevant range to drive the commercial objectives while ensuring that we continue to create desirability for both brands across platforms including OS/Tmall/JD and other platforms.


 Key Responsibilities:   

  • Responsible for range architecture and selection of ‘what product the consumer sees’ for responsible category.
  • Deliver the buy plan including inline and special buy so that it can well reflect the strategies of the company on eCom
  • Deliver financial and range efficiency targets i.e. OTB, Sell-thru, category shares, Stock-turn and Net margin targets for responsible category
    • Responsible and accountable for Net sales, Sell through, Std. margin
    • Own & lead the category buying strategy, framework, assortment and order management  
  • Manage team members that are responsible for  
    • Range selections basis range architecture across .com/ and agreed OTB & range size targets
    • Actual range selection during GMM/GBC/Trade meetings every season
    • Range and buy sign-offs
    • On-time handover of sizing & FC for procurement teams.
    • Analyse weekly/quarterly sell-through and reflect the learning to the seasonal buy
  • Internal alignment & coordination with key stakeholders to efficiently launch products, manage sell-thru and promotions within the season.
  • Manage deliverables with BU/MOPS/SCM/Warehouse management teams to deliver
    • Category targets
    • OTB, Inventory planning, sell-through & stock turn
    • Handover range and forecasts at agreed timelines to ensure timely POs (Pre-Season)
    • Management of phasing & giving timely signals to Demand planning to pursue replenishment/re-order of fast-moving articles (In-Season)
  • Deliver reports to aChina and Global on request

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Functional – Around 15 years of proven merchandising experience with at least 4 years at senior level with major apparel/fashion/footwear companies with big brands
  • Exposure – Familiar with eCom Business Module, preferably experience working with Tmall/JD platform
  • Industry – Ideally in apparel/fashion/footwear
  • Relevant China market experience is must
  • Bachelor's Degree in business related discipline is required
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
