Director e-Marketplaces (Platform Partner), eCommerce

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

 

The goal of the eCommerce (eCom) team is to deliver one integrated consumer journey to create a premium and seamless experience so that we not only meet their expectations, but also exceed them while meeting our targets when a consumer leaves our touch point.

The Director e-Commerce Partner Platforms will oversee the business across all e-commerce Partners as well as responsible for Partner Program business.

He/She will also play a key role to drive the strategic priorities to execute our global Own the Game strategy and its commercial targets for the e-Commerce Marketplace business.

At a macro level, the Director e-Commerce Partner Platforms  will have full responsibility over the following areas with respect to the e-Commerce Marketplace and Partner Program business: Define the Marketplace strategy and account management roadmap with respect to all the current and future partners ; Clearly define the pre- and in-season merchandising processes for the Partner Platform business; Oversee business planning strategy and financial forecasting process for the e-Commerce Partner Platform business for Japan e-Commerce; Lead as well as develop and grow the team for the Marketplace business, own all range of the merchandising strategies and inputs towards e-Commerce buying function to deliver the financial objectives for all  platforms under the jurisdiction of e-Commerce, which include Net Sales, Costs, Margin and Contribution.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of account managers who act as the lead account interface with own eCom team, eCom service provider and marketplace or external platform providers
  • Set the future strategy and long-term growth plan for the e-commerce Partner Platforms business for the continued healthy growth of marketplace business as part of adidas own the game strategy
  • Responsible for all business planning, merchandising inputs, segmentation, promotion and other strategies to deliver aligned commercial objectives for those eCommerce owned partner platforms
  • Manage and deliver against the full marketplace commercial and operational KPI’s
  • Clearly define the product range, differentiation, and segmentation in partnership with eCom Buying team that reflects the unique consumer attributes for the particular platform or marketplace
  • Ensure marketing investment is secured to drive traffic to our shop in shop on these Partner Platforms and that shop in shop itself is a flawlessly executed vehicle for our brand
  • We leverage commercial and brand moments, specific to that platform to drive incremental revenue opportunities
  • Ensure brand campaigns and product campaigns on top Partner Platforms are executed flawlessly based on pre-defined dedicated calendar pre-season, in close collaboration with brand (digital activation/OCM) team and respective marketplace counterparts
  • Responsible for driving reporting initiatives which measure the efficiency and commercial

success of the marketplace and in-line eCommerce ranges season over season.

  • Define Partner Platforms business planning timelines and processes and help ensure adherence by all concerned parties to define timelines and process landscape (*also in alignment with adidas merchandising deadlines).
  • Revise in-season financial plans when needed to ensure accuracy in forecasting
  • Understand the Japanese consumer retail/eCom environment including distribution points, share of buy, competitor ranges, and pricing strategies.
  • Responsible for knowing the business issues, plans, products, and consumer situations for all partner platforms
  • Communicate all eCom key information to all key members with the aim of driving flawless planning and execution as well as leveraging eCom knowledge through key stakeholders within the company.
  • Establish a high-performance culture and drive employee engagement, leading by example.
  • Identify and develop high-potential talents to fuel the succession plan in the team.
  • Look for opportunities to provide cross-functional experiences to identified high-potential talents from both inside and outside of the team.

 

KPI’s:

  • Net Sales, Net Margin & Contribution for all partner platform businesses
  • Key digital metrics: traffic, conversion rate, average order value, consumers ratings and others relevant to marketplace business

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of the eCommerce industry, including web / internet sales and marketing techniques, order fulfilment strategies, market research and analysis practices, and media marketing and communications capabilities preferred
  • Strong business acumen in channel distribution, net sales, margin, profit and inventory.
  • Strong in strategic thinking, ambitious and results & profit oriented
  • Curious and passionate about eCommerce and the contribution of different traffic channels 
  • Multinational corporation background and sensitive in cross-culture environment is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – Results & Profit oriented
  • Make day-to-day decisions within or for a small group/department in a complex business environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively inside and outside the level/function/organization, to accept new or modified standards or concepts with divergent interests, and to write and prepare executive-level business correspondences
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 4-6 years of working experience in a leading role in an eCommerce environment, or Category Management, Ranging, Merchandising Experience and Account Marketing or Sales
  • Experience of defining a long-term business plans and strategy for optimization across eCommerce business
  • Ideally have experience of working internationally and in settings requiring cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Advanced Excel and high proficiency in spreadsheet analytical skills and strong PowerPoint skill
  • Excellent English skills and Fluent Japanese preferred
