Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

  • Define, develop and lead an unbiased and inclusive Employee Relations roadmap and programs.
  • Lead investigations on complex workplace issues among employees and provide recommendations based on their conclusion.
  • Provide advice, guidance and resources towards HR partners on employee relation issues.
  • Proactively consult, coach and educate employees and leaders on policies and guidelines, enabling decision making processes that foster a fair and equitable work environment.
  • Work to effectively resolve issues on significant employee matters including progressive discipline, corrective action, voluntary and involuntary separations, litigation, resolution on background investigations, performance improvement and misconduct.
  • Create and standardize all employee relations processes and procedures, ensuring governance, transparency and executional excellence across the North America Market (NAM), in order to enhance our HR services and ensure that the company complies with local market legislation and the company’s global people strategy.
  • Input, advise and inform initiatives to enhance the organizational culture (e.g. United Against Racism).
  • Define and design ER Metrics and ensure they are tracked, analyzed, interpreted and shared.
  • Ensure that all employee matters are handled with a fair and consistent approach and with genuine care.
  • Continually pursue ways to improve existing policies and procedures around management of ER cases with a focus on efficiency and suitability for scale.
  • Support the development of employee relations capabilities among employees, people managers and senior leadership in NAM through education and training.
  • Ensure NAM investigative protocol and case management entry is defined, and investigation outcomes are appropriate, consistent, and timely.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills with a proven ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to establish a strong rapport and professional credibility with individuals, in order to influence at all levels of the organization, especially senior management.
  • Deals effectively with difficult situations, negotiates persuasively, has a clear opinion and conveys ideas to the point
  • Ability to work in and thrive in a changing business environment
  • Broad knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures in North America
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and good judgment and provide strategic advice
  • Strong conflict resolution skills


Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, growing, multi-functional (DC, Retail, Corporate), matrix organization
  • Minimum 10 years of HR, Legal or ER experience in a large, international, fast-paced organization
  • Degree or experience in employment law
  • Extensive experience working with/on equity, diversity and inclusion related topics
  • Broad knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures in North America
  • Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Some travel to our offices, stores and distribution centers across North America will be required
