Distribution Systems Manager

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

•    Manage a team of WMS SuperUsers who provide technical support to Distribution Operations management team(s) while finding creative solutions, making recommendations for process improvements and supporting key initiatives.  Provide direction and assess risks around DC projects, system upgrades, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities: 

•    Manage and foster a team that collaborates with DC Operations, application vendors, and Global IT in resolving system related issues.
•    All WMS and Operational systems functional testing related to process improvements, changes in business models, and system upgrades. 
•    Make recommendations regarding process changes, test results, project progression, and system upgrades.
•    Manage all aspects of assigned projects from timeline creation, resources, communication and status indicators. 
•    Identify and implement tools/methods for documenting, tracking, and reporting of changes and their impact(s) to the operation.
•    Maintain appropriate level of expertise in software applications and corresponding processes related to the distribution center, Including, but not limited to; Manhattan, Beumer, Intelligrated, Put to Light, SAP, Omni-hub, SCI, Detego, Accutech, MS Office Suite, and SQL Developer.
•    Create and manage a development program to ensure education and retention of knowledge in systems used with NAM Distribution.  
•    Develop training programs for key WMS users to effectively utilize the system and enhance performance 

  • Audit use and effectiveness, adjusting as needed. 

•    Oversee and ensure creation of process flows and SOPs related to projects and process improvements/changes. 
•    Develop and maintain best practices for all relative job functions within the realm of responsibilities.


Key Relationships: 

•    Supply Chain Management: Distribution, Order Fulfillment, Reporting and Analytics, Performance Management.
•    3PLs, Application Vendors and Global Logistics.
•    SAP technical support team.
•    Global IT.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

•    Excellent functional and technical knowledge of applications used in distribution centers; including but not limited to Manhattan, Beumer, Intelligrated, Put to Light, SAP, Omni-hub, SCI, Detego, Accutech,MS Office Suite, and SQL Developer
•    Excellent understanding of advanced math equations, algorithms, and SQL statements
•    Ability to manage projects from conception to implementation and present results to a group of peers or senior management 
•    Above average knowledge of programming and coding for communicating with application and IT support teams
•    Ability to analyse and troubleshoot issues with DC related applications related to config and system interfaces
•    Ability to understand complex requests and provide solutions and realistic timelines relative to the request(s)
•    Ability to conduct WMS training, update documents/manuals and collaborate with all levels of management regarding WMS interfaces and uses.
•    The job requires extensive walking and standing on hard surfaces and/or continuous hours working at a desk with a PC.
•    Should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a large box distribution center environment with pick pack operations, high sku count in a complex high speed automated and/or manual operation.  Relevant industry experience is a plus.
•    Proficient in MS Office.


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. Four-year college or university degree.
  2. Minimum of five years relevant work experience and/or training
  3. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  4. Proven project management experience.
  5. Fluent in English, both oral and written.
  6. Minimal travel required.
