Distribution Training Lead

Purpose: Supports the operations team by conducting process training on all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and by implementing and serving as an example of safe work practices.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

•    Conduct training on Process Compliance Standards, and Equip Letterman to maintain the consistency of process training
•    Mentor and coach the Letterman (OJT’s) with providing on-the-job training 
•    Touch base with Letterman daily while they have trainees
•    Work with supervisors/managers to enforce all OSHA standards, as well as, warehouse rules/regulations especially those related to powered industrial trucks (PIT)
•    Train and certify all personnel on the safe operation of equipment, including PIT
•    Present Temporary employee and new hire orientations (NEO) and Training Camp, also equipping Letterman to preform Training Camp sessions
•    Communicate with supervisors & Management regarding new hire and cross-training completion
•    Assist Training Supervisor with scheduling and leading the cross-training initiatives
•    Lead Letterman in completion of all process competency audits ensuring on time completion and documentation of results
•    Conduct train-the-trainer sessions equipping Letterman to competently perform training sessions
•    Facilitate courses and/or learning sessions for all identified training opportunities
•    Administrative tasks as needed:  printing and organizing learning materials, tracking training rosters, etc
•    Maintain visibility on the operations floor to maintain process knowledge and identify gaps in skills, training approach, etc
•    Support the creation and implementation of SOPs, Audit sheets and One Point Lessons
•    Ability to develop and share best practices
•    Maintain daily tasks, training hours and pass-down
•    Personal/Professional Development
•    Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
•    Fluent in English, both oral and written. Proficiency in Spanish or other languages is a plus
•    Ability to work and reliably attend flexible schedules/shifts as needed to support a 21 hour/day – 7 day/week operation
•    Demonstrated knowledge of handling heavy-duty PIT vehicles and strong safety awareness
•    Proven facilitation and presentation skills
•    Ability to work collaboratively within a large group of co-workers
•    Positive and enthusiastic approach 
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment 
•    Self-motivated to prioritize, coordinate and complete projects within tight deadlines
•    Proficiency with MS Office (including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint) and Warehouse Management Systems

 

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
•    regularly required to talk or hear; stand or walk; use fingers, hands and arms to feel, handle, grip, grasp, lift, push and pull for up to ten (10) hours/day
•    able to work in a warehouse environment 
•    able to reliably attend work/scheduled hours
•    Occasionally required to sit; bending, twisting, climb or balance; lift and carry items such as boxes weighing up to forty (40) pounds; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Minimum of two (2) years related distribution experience and/or training
  3. One (1) plus year experience, preferred, operating and training on the safe operation of forklifts, order pickers, reach-fork trucks, walkies/pallet jacks and scissor lifts
  4. Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
  5. An equivalent combination of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
