Senior Manager Risk Finance & Transfer (m/w/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The Risk Finance & Transfer Department embraces its responsibility to protect adidas’ profit and assets through efficient & innovative risk financing, transfer and mitigation for relevant exposure.

All the while, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to analyze significant existing and emerging exposures.

 

The Senior Manager Risk Finance & Transfer analyses, evaluates and handles exposures for Insured Employee Benefits and implements adequate risk finance and transfer programs. The Senior Manager Risk Finance & Transfer supports the Director Insurance in financial and strategic risk finance and transfer decisions and actively drives all insurance/reinsurance activities for the global Insured Employee Benefits program.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Insured Employee Benefits Program worldwide in the range of 30-40 Mio EUR premiums paid (Life, Disability, Accident, Medical incl. Expat):

 

  • Establish the risk finance & transfer strategy of financing Insured Employee Benefits globally incl.
    • Select preferred networks
    • Monitor and review of Multinational Arrangements
    • Collect adidas risk exposure information globally
    • Disseminate information about adidas risk finance and transfer strategy to adidas operations worldwide
    • Support all countries, regions, brands, functions and legal entities
  • Autonomously negotiate best terms and conditions for Insured Employee Benefits programs incl. re-insurance protections (e.g. Stop Loss)
  • Manage actively the risk exposure associated with our global Insured Employee Benefits footprint (incl. managing insurance data for reports, improve the management and admin of such plans and quality of risk)
  • Manage affinity business (private insurances for adidas employees) in Germany and investigate options to roll-out into other countries
  • Create and lead process of annual premium allocation
  • Engage in Risk Management Initiatives such as Loss Prevention Measures and Mitigating Actions (e.g. wellbeing)
  • Support new concepts and strategies for Insured Employee Benefits programs and closely monitor the implementation by guiding all internal and external parties involved
  • Manage mid-sized projects (e.g. annual employee benefits inventory) and/or actively participate in projects; implement findings and ensure sustainability of achievements.
  • Manage the end-to-end Insurance process from application through binding of coverage.
  • Provide expertise for assigned functional areas/systems and processes towards team and business partners.

 

Risk Finance

 

  • Verify multiple reinsurance transactions of above mentioned line of business
  • Support annual accounting and ensure proper reporting
  • Challenge constantly implemented risk financing options and develop alternative risk financing options to improve the cash flow or reduce adverse P&L effects

 

Key Relationships:

 

  • Within adidas – Sports Marketing, Global Travel Management, Global HR, Global Legal, Security, Global Marketing, Global Workspaces and Real Estate, Group Finance
  • Outside adidas – Major Insurance Companies, Major Reinsurance Companies, Consulting Firms, Major Broker Firms, Assistance Companies, Media Agencies, Auditing Companies, Associations, Surveyors, Recovery Agents

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to think and act strategically and develop operational plans
  • Comprehensive business understanding and thorough understanding of the complexity, interactions and dynamics within an international company
  • Ability to operate cross-functionally and understanding of external business drivers
  • High degree of customer orientation and excellent communication and negotiation skills for influencing others
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Understanding of HR Rewards and Benefit programs
  • Enable fact based decision by creating transparency on overall loss exposure of adidas
  • Business fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Very good analytical skills, managing large data quantities from multiple sources

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree (e.g. Bachelor in Insurance and/or Risk Management) or Insurance apprenticeship combined with higher internal or external education in the field of insurance (e.g. Versicherungsfachwirt/-betriebswirt)
  • Five to seven years’ experience in the insurance industry, preferably commercial and international sector
  • Robust Expertise in reading and interpreting insurance policies/agreements/wordings
  • Strong Expertise in Multinational Pooling and/or Captive
