Director, Manufacturing Innovation - Advanced Materials

Purpose 

  • A key player in Global Sourcing in driving Sourcing’s vision to be the Most Agile, Most Competitive, Most Digitalized & Cleanest Supply Base in the industry. 

  • Improve productivity and efficiency by providing leadership and direction to the T2 fabric manufacturers and dye houses. Identify and evaluate problems and efficiency opportunities and develop plans to improve productivity, quality and reduce costs. 

  • Advice on innovations and technologies related to yarns, inks and textile treatments and ensure manufacturing readiness and scalability. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create a structured approach to business improvements with the T2 suppliers through increased manufacturing efficiencies and machine utilization, with clear measures and deliverables. 

  • Identify the levers of efficiency in the manufacturing process of T2 suppliers to define cost mitigation opportunities and gain efficiencies. 

  • Establish a format for evaluating T2s’ production methods and introduce improvement guidelines to enhance output and quality. 

  • Drive individual supplier action plans to improve efficiency levels enabling successful achievement of milestones and business goals. 

  • Continuously refine the material costing approach emphasizing transparent, accurate, fact-based, and predictable material cost breakdowns. 

  • Interact with outside vendors to evaluate new technology, machinery and processes. 

  • Be a driver of change, seeking new ways to improve the business, its efficiency and the company’s profitability. 

  • Role model leadership to foster a culture of Diversity Equity & Inclusion that strives for an inclusive workplace. 

  • Develop and coach team to ensure the best standards of performance, appropriate skillsets and strong succession plans are in place.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong practical textile experience; ideal to have worked in a textile mill. 

  • 6S or Lean background would be an advantage. 

  • Strong product development knowledge and costing background. 

  • Strong influencing, people, presentation and communication skills. 

  • Proven ability in leading multidimensional teams. 

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). 

  • Strong Microsoft office skills. 

 

Requisite Education and Experience 

  • University Degree in Textiles or related areas 

  • Minimum 10+years of relevant experience and 3+ years of people management experience 

  • Textile Chemistry & related Textile Technology background
