Inbound Manager

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Strategic management and operational control of all third-party inbound transportation activities to & within Ukraine to achieve a world class service level at optimum cost.  Focusing on destination country activities, ensure that inbound ocean, air and road transportation in the region achieves and exceeds the requirements of adidas Distribution Centres and those of adidas wholesale customers for direct to customer shipments. Develop and implement long term strategy to drive reliable, flexible and cost-efficient service, including contingency measures to provide business resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • identifying and applying best practice in all areas within inbound and customs activities.
  • Develop and implement inbound transportation strategy, focused on destination country activities including Logistics.
  • Service Provider (LSP), port, inland terminal and DC initiatives.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and up to date understanding of the changing requirements of adidas and customer DCs in Ukraine.
  • Identify and implement transportation solutions that maximize DC efficiency and provide a best-in-class service to customers whilst reducing costs.
  • Optimize Detention and Demurrage options in order to minimize spend when container storage is required!
  • Drive process and service improvements in line with strategic business plan in Ukraine.
  • Understand and assess all potential risks and put in place contingency plans to ensure business continuity.

Internal Relationship Management

  • Manage, motivate and develop Ukraine inbound team.
  • Build on the performance culture within the department, ensuring that high performers are recognized and that success stories are shared with the wider business.
  • Work with and influence counterparts in other Market and Global functions to ensure focus on achieving EMC goals.
  • Work with and influence the DC teams, enabling processes that fulfil DC needs whilst optimising transportation and Detention and Demurrage (D&D) costs.
  • Act as single point of contact for all LSP Finance and Credit discussions, avoiding any disruption to service resulting from disputes.

 

 

Supplier Management

  • Lead Ukraine Inbound operations interaction with the 3PLs.
  • ensuring systems and services are fit for purpose and that continuous improvement activities generate significant service and cost benefits.
  • Challenge and improve performance of inbound operations.
  • Aligned with Global Logistics and Logistics Procurement, build lasting local partnerships with strategic LSPs in Ukraine who will bring innovation, whilst delivering strong service and cost performance.
  • Maximize vehicle and container fill rates through all forms of transport.
  • Ukraine lead for Global inbound transportation tenders, aligning on requirements with all EDCs and maximizing flexibility in LSP selection whilst ensuring requirements are met.

Controlling

  • Responsible for all D&D spend in Ukraine.
  • Regularly review D&D performance vs. budget and agree corrective actions to reduce cost with DC Ops, Import teams and Product Supply.
  • Build and maintain a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that opportunities are constantly identified and costs optimized.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Has demonstrated the ability to manage by objectives to achieve functional goals
  • Able to operate as a member of a multi-discipline management team, influencing key individuals in other functions to ensure that strategic objectives are achieved
  • Experience of managing large 3rd party contracts including involvement with procurement and contract negotiations
  • Expert in continental / global Supply Chain Management
  • Experience of managing people and ability to build a performance culture.
  • A proven visionary thinker / idea generator able to demonstrate process improvement, calculated risk taking and overall.
  • drive to continually challenge standards and communicate plans effectively throughout the wider business.
  • Able to demonstrate a background of being a successful team player.

IT Skills

  • Capable of specifying precise business requirements to enable clear and successful IT developments.
  • Understanding of ERP/TMS/WMS systems and linkages and evidence of participation in system development.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft packages.
  • Language Skills: Excellent English both written and verbal.
