Legal Counsel Employment Law / Arbeitsrecht / Legal HR(m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Provide general legal service with a focus on Employment Law & Compliance topics, ensuring legal interests of adidas AG as well as partially on European topics with regards individual labor law.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide state of the art employment law advice to HR and business partners in all areas of employment law including all aspects of (i) employment agreements, severance agreements, termination of employment relationships, disputes with current and former employees (including litigation proceedings) and employment law aspects of compliance matters as well as (ii) collective bargaining.
  • Deliver expert opinions, assess legal risks and ensure dispute avoidance
  • Actively help develop business strategy & initiatives with effective legal advice i.e. in (cross-functional) small to large size projects.
  • Communicate actively and consistently with HR and contribute to the process of structuring and developing the organization.
  • Conceptualize and implement best-practices and standards to ensure employment law compliance on company level and support Director Employment Law in driving initiatives and efficient employment law processes in close alignment with the wider Global Legal team.
  • Conceptualize and conduct internal employment law trainings for HR and Line Managers leveraging digitization
  • Effectively coordinate, manage and supervise the delivery of employment law advice and services through external counsel where needed.

 

Key Relationships:

  • Reports to the Director Employment Law
  • Interacts internally with all levels of the company including the highest levels of the organization
  • Interacts and works with HR community and Labor Relations
  • Interacts externally with outside counsels as well as with representatives of management and trade unions

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong background in all areas of German employment law as well as negotiations and business counselling
  • Excellent client relation skills (including ability to interact at the highest levels of the company)
  • Strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
  • Pragmatic, business minded and can-do attitude with the ability to balance risk essentials against business needs
  • Ability to work independently and manage as well as prioritize substantial and diverse workload
  • Ability to manage complex mid to large size cross-functional projects  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be fluent in English and German.
  • Strong MS-Office skills

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • German law degree as fully qualified lawyer ("fully satisfactory")
  • Ideally, certified employment-law specialist (Fachanwalt für Arbeitsrecht/ Fachanwältin für Arbeitsrecht)
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in employment law counselling
  • Preferably experience with multinational companies with multi market teams.
