Director SCM Finance (m/f/d)

Purpose

The purpose of this role is to act as business partner for Global Supply Chain Management Leadership Team with focus on performance management for Global Supply Chain Overheads and Global Projects. The SCM Finance Director supports and steers the business to achieve (financial) targets by providing transparency and giving recommendations to enable fact-based decision-making.

 

 Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a business partner and financial consultant for Global Supply Chain Management Leadership Team to secure achievement of financial performance targets by evaluating, implementing, and tracking adequate solutions to secure part of the corporate targets.
  • Drive transparency on cost and cost drivers of the assigned Supply Chain areas through cost management by supervising budget process and forecast, reporting actual costs, explaining cost deviations, and identifying savings potential as part of cost saving initiatives.
  • Liaise with other Global Teams to facilitate and coordinate Global Project Demand Management for Supply Chain Management Strategic Initiatives.
  • Ensure transparent and accurate business case calculation overall around financial costs, benefits and KPIs, either directly or in cooperation with Supply Chain Management market finance teams for respectively global or market driven projects.
  • Challenge business cases for project initiatives to ensure alignment with the overall long term company strategy and financial targets.
  • Keep global consistency and improvements of business financial analysis identifying main drivers and full transparency of commercial and operational decision.
  • Cooperate with other global business teams to elevate the level of automation and digitalization around operational and financial KPIs.
  • Identify significant improvement potential through variance analysis, derive solutions and facilitate related decisions. 
  • Participate in Global Project Teams as representative of Global Operations Finance ensuring strategic initiatives and special projects are completed and targets achieved sustainably.
  • Transfer best practice procedures across Global Operations Finance and Supply Chain Management via internal/external benchmarking.
  • Develop & coach team members with focus on upskilling on strategic thinking, problem solving and storytelling about complex financial subject matters.

Key Relationships

  • Business Partner to Global Supply Chain Management Functions, such as Global Distribution, Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management head quarter functions
  • Interface to other Global Operations Finance and Business teams (Tech, Data & Analytics, Sourcing, Product Operations, Global Operations Strategy team) within the organization
  • Corporate Finance Teams
  • Market Finance, in particular Market SCM Controlling and General FP&A
  • Selected other functions across the organization based on projects and financial steering needs mainly Human Resources, Global Business Services, Global Non-Trade Procurement, Legal, Project Steering Boards and Project Sponsors

Knowledge, Capabilities and Skills 

  • Good planning, organization and analytical skills, and ability to work and deliver in changing environments, under limited guidance while adhering to specified deadlines
  • Ability to mediate and bring cross-functional stakeholders with different objectives to agree a consensus
  • Understanding of the bigger picture and end-to-end processes, mainly Supply Chain related
  • Proven ability to lead across own area of direct responsibility to achieve results and strategic ambition within wider organization
  • Ability to effectively operate and present in a matrix organization, respond to information requests from senior executives, stakeholders, cross functional business leaders, peers, and customers
  • Ability to manage, align, motivate, and develop team members, ensuring they contribute to the success of Global Operations Finance
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of financial experience with exposure to global projects and progressive responsibility in industry leading companies or consulting firms, preferably with detailed knowledge on Supply Chain Management processes
  • Team leadership responsibility 3+ years
  • A master’s degree with emphasis on the areas of business, economics, finance, or comparable professional education
  • Excellent English language proficiency
