Manager, Planning (12 Month Contract)

Purpose:   To develop sales, gross margin and inventory plans at a division and category level that support the company's objectives and are aligned to the Direct to Consumer (DTC) growth strategy.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Financial and Merchant Planning

  • Provide thorough merchant and financial analysis on a weekly basis: keying on the performance of brands by channel, store type and business unit with a specific focus on sales, margin, inventory productivity and contribution.
  • Support and champion the adidas Group Canada Open-To-Buy process,  working closely with finance and the business efficiency manager to execute on all inventory control projects
  • Provide leadership and support to the Integrated Business Planning process to ensure the needs and goals of both adidas Group Canada are met as well as protecting the interest of the DTC channel
  • Drives results by translating knowledge of size selling, geographic and store-attribute performance and trends into allocation action plans
  • Supports the development of allocation plans and budgets by department and store.
  • Guide and support planning team and other cross-functional partners through the seasonal buying cycles, utilizing historical data and current trends to capitalize on new opportunities and identify risks.
  • Create and maintain reports for the team as needed. 

 

 DTC Planning team development

  • Provide leadership by creating a collaborative, innovative and results-oriented environment. 
  • Responsible for career and skill development of planners to ensure job satisfaction, retention and future talent development.  
  • Demonstrate leadership and provide guidance to planning team in order to produce high-quality, accurate and timely accomplishment of the objectives outlined above

 

Foster cross-functional relationships with other adidas Retail departments

  • Develop and deliver analysis at a store and market level to inform and guide decision making, including weekly analysis and insights into product and store sales performance
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with finance, demand planning and the brand product teams
  • Influences the behavior and opinions of others using pertinent data and applying logic to gain consensus

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Has proven the ability to build and develop a team by creating a positive and motivating work environment where innovation is encouraged
  • High degree of proficiency in  SAP , MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work with and influence senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast- paced and deadline-oriented environment

 

Qualifications: (Minimum required education and experience):

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (business degree preferred)
  • 5  years of planning experience with a minimum of 2 years in a management role
