Manager, Concept Development (Global Consumer Experience Hub - Americas)

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

We are looking for a Manager, Concept Development for our Consumer Experience team in Portland, OR.  

 

The Manager, Concept Development will be responsible for developing and supporting Consumer Experience Global Concept adaptations & iterations for the Americas and Market specific Concept Development in close collaboration with the Market and Country teams to ensure the brand adidas consumer experience in the region reflects the consumer and market distribution needs following a global guidance towards a consumer centric brand experience for all physical retail touchpoints across all channels (Own Retail, Franchising and Wholesale).

 

This role is responsible for supporting the HUB team with flawless execution of concepts & formats (hyper-localization), according to our Creative/Brand leadership & principles, resulting in world class consumer experience.

 

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILTIES

 

  • Support retail agencies for concept development adaptations & iterations specific for Americas, including required principles and guidelines.
  • Support the market roll-out relevant teams creating clear requirements and development of guidelines, structure and positioning for markets to execute concepts whilst ensuring continued alignment to brand objectives and positioning (following defined global/local framework and operating model)
  • Develop trainings to coach markets on tools and concepts when required
  • Create and document design input for concept adaptations & iterations, captured from the Market, based on defined development pre-requisites and align back with the market on final outcome.
  • Support monitoring the retail industry (brick and mortar, wholesale and digital) for best practices to understand the trends and conceptualize new methods or processes whenever required.
  • Analyse and document industry leading innovations in retail design and digital experience and ensure commerciality of concept adaptations & iterations in line with Market expectations and Brand aspirations.
  • Collaborate with all Hub teams, global brand design team in Portland and global CE team whenever required.
  • Follow area objectives & priorities and ensure training to market place including a communication loop for implementation learning and further enhancements.
  • Manage own projects and tasks requiring in depth knowledge and judgment within design concepts and ensure alignment between HUB team and Market team. This alignment should also be ensured globally whenever required.
  • Self-initiate assignments with emphasis on strategic, commercial and tactical focus
  • Any additional projects or tasks defined by the line manager

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

A strong fit for the role will have:

  • Fully qualified and experienced in store design, with combined theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Strong organisation skills and flexibility.
  • Proven track record in retail concept design development and implementation, including digital experience.
  • Strong Visualisation skills – 2D hand sketching & 3D CAD rendering skills (Sketchup, Vectorworks, 3DMax or similar) to illustrate design ideas
  • Furniture design, material knowledge & detailing skills are an advantage
  • Interest in technical & design innovations.
  • English fluent: verbal, written & spoken. Another language is an advantage.
  • IT: Microsoft Office, SketchUp or similar, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Design Degree (Architecture – Interior Design –  Industrial design ) or equivalent qualification as carpenter, interior decorator or similar
  • relevant experience in retail development and design including fashion retailing
  • 1+ years working with Global markets or a key adidas market.
  • 1+ project or process management experience
