Manager, Marketplace - Data & Tools APAC

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

  • Ensure that the data we use is the best available for the needs of the marketplace transformation team and the wider APAC organization
  • Source and maintain relationships with outside data, service and tool vendors
  • Integrate external marketplace data with internal POS data
  • Develop tools, including Geographic Information System (GIS) to drive the store expansion strategy

 

Key Responsibilities: 
Data sourcing & processing

 

  • Set up data collection and compilation processes across APAC
  • Stay current in new data types and sources, and possible applications for retail expansion strategy
  • Manage the GIS and other mapping support tools; apply a continuous improvement mindset into data development 
  • Support Marketplace Transformation team members and other functions with market and location data collection and processing activities
  • Manage relationships with data vendors and ensure that sourced data meets quality expectations
  • Support specific database development needs with own research and analysis
  • Support team on map and data analysis and report generation as needed. 
  • Clean, combine, and process data tables as needed by the retail expansion strategy team, as well as the wider APAC organization

Communication and execution

  • Run workshops on market mapping tools; help drive adoption of tools and processes within the APAC organization
  • Create persuasive outputs and reports to guide discussion and planning activities

Scenario Testing

  • Work cross-functionally and cross-country/clusters to run scenarios on location data and POS data
  • Special projects:  Engage on other major cross-functional projects (as required)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced statistical methods and analytic techniques – experience with and expertise in:
  1. Large dataset manipulation and data mining
  2. Statistical analysis in business context: regression, predictive modeling, segmentation/cluster analysis, conjoint analysis etc.
  3. Spatial analysis on GIS system is preferred
  • Solid business sense and critical-thinking ability – able to solve problems using both conventional judgment and ad-hoc analysis
  • Mature and credible interpersonal skills– able to quickly build trust and act as an influencer across the retail development team and related team
  • Willingness to learn – a drive to learn about all aspects of the business and develop general management competency

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of general business experience – including extensive experience in a data analytics function
  • Experience with a global consumer goods brand and/or modern retailer
  • Experience in working closely with middle and senior managers across functions 
  • University degree or above in Math, Statistics or other quantitative subject 
  • GIS background required
  • High proficiency or expertise with database, statistical and business intelligence systems (e.g., SAS, SPSS etc)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
