Manager, Retail Training, Greater NYC Area

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implements both short-term and long-term NAM Region and Global Retail Training Strategies that build identified business skills, knowledge, and attitudes and create a sustainable infrastructure for ongoing store-level training of Retail Associates.
  • Assist in the design and development of customized NAM Retail Training tools and processes.  Regionalize and/or edit programs and materials where relevant.
  • Ensure measurably successful implementation of all Retail Training programs by linking to KPI’s, fleet trainers and material distribution for all Retail training rollouts. Tracks KPI (Key Performance Indicators) to assess and evaluate effectiveness of fleet-based selling and service initiatives and trainings, fleet trainer consultations, tools and processes to constantly improve programs to meet business needs.
  • Attends, observes and provides feedback and coaching on store visits (virtual and in-person) and cascades information to fleet trainers and business partners to ensure appropriate execution of fleet trainer consultative practices and have the appropriate support for follow-up. Monitor best practices within Retail Training (within adidas and external) and implement findings into programs as necessary. Align with budget and travel policies to minimize expenses.
  • Monitor current Brand & Product global and NAM specific initiatives and technologies to ensure local toolkits and all training tools are relevant, as well as contribute to future training needs. Help with planning the program pipeline to ensure timely and balanced implementation of learning programs
  • Build and maintain a solid working relationship with Global Retail Operations, business units (BUs) and key stakeholders
  • Assist on all aspects of the retail training Go-to-Market annual cycle
  • Support the GSA team with internal tasks as required

  • Ability to create compelling, relevant and interactive learning programs
  • Strong training delivery and facilitation skills, both virtual and in-person
  • Ability to modify training programs and delivery to meet the needs of a diverse audience to ensure a high level of comprehension and behavioral change.
  • Exceptional project management skills and understanding of process analysis/ workflow management.
  • Ability to proactively and effectively communicate and network with various levels of retail management.
  • International mindset and business English required.
  • Strong listening and questioning skills
  • Ability to coordinate remotely located teams; including regionally based trainers.
  • Ability to travel, domestic or international.
  • Experience working in team-oriented roles that rely on the ability to collaborate with others.


  • Four-year college or university degree, emphasis in management or organizational development and training preferred and two years additional relevant work experience.  In lieu of a degree, candidate must have 4 years related work experience.
  • Proven track record in branded /multi-location retail organization.
  • Strong understanding of retail trends and processes, and of various adult learning needs.
  • Proven track record of being results oriented with demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive goals.
  • Experience in facilitation to both corporate and fleet-based audiences as well as instructional design certification preferred.

  • Cursory understanding of current mobile technology.
