Manager, Strategic Insights & Analytics

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization

To support profitable and sustainable market share growth for all brands (adidas & Reebok) in the Market by providing strategic insights through internal and external data synthesis, decision-support analysis and strategic planning processes.


Key Responsibilities 


(Market Intelligence) Develop and manage data sources and central data repository of market and competitor intelligence. Create and distribute regular reports to Japan Senior Leadership Team. Identify key markets developments and ensure implications are considered in planning and decision-making.

 (Market Share) Manage external market share agency to deliver on quarterly Japan Sporting Goods Market Share insights. Ensure quality outcomes and applicability to the business, to support strategic priorities. Actively engage with Japan cross functional teams and APAC & Global Sales Business Development team to ensure clear communication across HQ and Japan teams.

 (Data analysis and decision support) Develop financial and quantitative models & reporting relevant to strategy planning (e.g., business simulation, revenue projection, market share development, financial statement analysis) Synthesize data and prepare analysis to support Japan Executive Team’s (JET) decision-making on priority topics (typically working cross-functionally and with the virtual DNA team).

(Consumer Insights) Coordinate and align between APAC and Japan (via virtual Strategic insights team) on Brand Tracking Study and implement key drivers that increase KPI’s i.e. Brand Momentum, Spontaneous Purchase Intent, and Net Promoter Score or other market & competition insights.

(Project Management) Support regular and ad-hoc cross-functional projects and strategic planning activities (e.g., workshops, individual briefings)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Experience with a global apparel / consumer goods brand or retailer. 
  • Experience in working closely with middle and senior leaders across functions
  • Strong analytical skills and communication skills
  • Proven project management experience
  • Advanced Power Point user, Expert Excel user


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications  


  • Minimum 3 years of general business experience (ideally in more than one business function); equivalent experience in leading management consulting firm with strategic planning experience
  • Open mind-set, curiosity, continuously challenging the status-quo 
  • Passion for sport
  • Fluent in English and advanced level in Japanese
