Manager Data Analyst (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: 


This position will directly contribute to the Corporate Internal Audit mission to provide independent, objective assurance for improving the effectiveness of business risk management, internal controls, and governance processes throughout adidas.  


The Data Analyst will support the department through execution and integration of data analytics within the internal audit lifecycle. They will employ advanced data modeling and operations research techniques for lifting insights and actions hidden in large data sets. 


They will also support execution of advanced analytic use cases to bring innovation and foresight to data analysis and audit processes within Corporate Internal Audit.

Corporate Internal Audit team members are value-adding business partners focused on supporting adidas in creating a sound governance, risk and compliance framework which secures achievement of strategic objectives. 


Key Responsibilities:  



  • Evaluates the need for analytics and what internal or external data sources to use or acquire, including consultation with Senior Data Scientist for opportunities and prioritization.  

  • Specifies and applies appropriate mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze data, generate insights, create value and support decision-making.  

  • Reviews the benefits and value of analytics techniques and tools and recommends improvements.  

  • Complete quality, thorough and fact-based documentation of audit work throughout all deliverables utilizing data analytics templates and adhering to CIA methodology and data analytics best practices.   

  • Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts.  

  • Applies a variety of visualization techniques and designs the content and appearance of data visuals.  

  • Operationalizes and automates activities for efficient and timely production of data visuals. 


Consultancy & Specialist Advice  

  • Actively develops knowledge and expertise in data science specialism, staying alert of company-wide initiatives, process and organization changes.  

  • Collaborates with other specialists, where appropriate, to ensure advice given is appropriate to the needs of the organization. 

  • Supports small-scale to medium-scale internal initiatives (e.g. risk models, audit system updates, recruitment) to enhance audit processes 


Key Relationships:  

  • Senior Management and team members of the Data & Analytics organization and other data & analytics focused teams (e.g. Digital Analytics) 

  • Key Governance functions: Risk Management, Policies & Internal Controls, Legal & Compliance, TECH and Information Security 

  • Stakeholders within global functions including (GOPS, HR, Finance, Brand, Sales) 

  • Senior Management and team members of the audit entities 

  • Corporate Internal Audit team

  • Strong analytic capabilities and effective listening skills to collect and manage large volume of information from various sources (interviews, data) and derive meaningful observations.  

  • A passion for detail, accuracy, reliability, and speed coupled with desire for data exploration to reveal deeper insights, business process improvement opportunities and areas of potential risk. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a high degree of customer orientation to navigate easily within complex organization, to connect with people, and management styles across different cultures and communicate technical IT / data topics to non-technical personnel 

  • Able to accept and meet deadlines, involving effective time management capacity and sense of priorities and agility. 

  • Curious and growth mindset; keen to learn and approach subjects outside of comfort zone, look beyond the obvious. 

  • Solution-oriented, adaptable, self-motivated, driven and committed team player with integrity and perseverance. 

  • Comfortable to present and communicate in English effectively, both in writing and verbally. 


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:  

  • University degree in a related discipline e.g.  Business Administration/Mathematics/ Statistics/Data Analytics 

  • 5+ years professional work experience within data analytics field  

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills incl. experience with mining large datasets (e.g., SQL, ACL) 

  • Experience with standard data science programming languages (e.g., Python, R) 

  • Hands-on experience with BI/visualization tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau) 

  • Experience with reporting and dashboarding skills (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS) would be a benefit
