Manager Direct to Consumer Buying, adidas Golf

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

To formulate the optimal buying plan, manage FP&FO retail and e-commerce inventory and range planning to meet organization’s sales and stock turn objectives.



Key Responsibilities:

Merchandizing operations:

  • Analyze sales (yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly) and and create sales strategy
  • Formulate the buying plan
  • Involve in shop visits to understand the sales performance, find out opportunity, review top sellers, check store inventory
  • Create long term sales & inventory forecast for responsible channels (FP&FO retail & e-commerce) and manage OTB plans
  • Plan and implement inventory control strategies, e.g. transfer among buckets, aged inventory liquidation plan, B-grade inventory sales plan etc.
  • Plan and select assortment for stores based on store profile and product launch plan to meet the OTB budget
  • Work with Retail Operations to develop and implement standard operating procedures for merchandizing distribution
  • Work with the warehouse, VM and Marketing team on a collaborated product launch in retail stores
  • Responsible for product launches and timely delivery to ensure sell thru and turn-over is on target
  • Monitor product life cycle and take strategic price actions to ensure the healthy inventory position in store level and dc level
  • Align and execute monthly retail marketing initiatives (internal and external) to support retail KPI
  • Set team goal and full-year sales target


Data analysis

  • Analyze routine sales and stock data and maintain detailed and accurate reports
  • Analyze retail business against inventory level, stores’ inventory and develop action plans to fast and/or slow moving items to achieve sales and stock turn
  • Track future seasons to ensure that the pre-order is in line with sales trend
  • Monitor and track retail marketing campaign results


Personnel Management:

  • Building and developing Buying team for DTC retail and e-commerce channels
  • Communicate with retail team regarding business alignment, objectives and product information

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Merchandizing or retail experience, with a distinct track record of success
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Advanced user of MS Office suite of products



Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years of retail experience in merchandizing role preferably with an international company
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent or at least intermediate level in Japanese preferred
  • Passion for sports
