Manager Environment, Health & Safety

Purpose:  
The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for partnering with the DC Operations teams to execute company health and safety policies and ensure compliance to all applicable global, regional, and local regulations; promote continuous improvement initiatives to achieve global 2025 H&S targets and reduce potential safety and occupation health/ergonomic risks in DC daily operation to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our employees and associates.
     
Key Responsibilities:
•    Handles direction and execution of all written safety programs and policies as per global IMS standard and local regulations
•    Share and implement best practices with H&S global and local site operation teams. 
•    Responds to all safety/health-related incidents and conducts investigations as required. 
•    Leads safety training and awareness sessions for all employee and management teams.
•    Participates as site representative in global H&S programs and initiatives.
•    Designs and implements required safety training programs and processes.
•    Maintain all records and documentation in compliance with local government and ISO standards.
•    Captures, analyses, and reacts to safety metrics and reviews weekly and monthly incident/near miss trends to discover patterns on areas where the safety risk is highest.
•    Assists in preparing required plans and appropriate site facility operating procedures.
•    Conducts risk assessments, associate staff behaviours, and DC processes to ensure that training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate, consistent and in compliance. 
•    Keeps Operations team informed of new and developing health and safety regulations.
•    Leads accident investigations, performing root cause analysis for all injuries and “near misses.” Trains Operations supervisors to conduct thorough investigations.
•    Leverages lean principles and kaizens to lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk in processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for all employees.
•    Ensures vendors, contractors and third-party employees are compliant to Company H&S standards. 
•    Response to all work-related injury & illness emergency (e.g., Covid-19 response, etc.)
•    Other duties and tasks as assigned to support the organization.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
•    Knowledge of all applicable corporate, global (ISO), local health and safety regulatory requirements.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication in English
•    Excellent organization skills with a strong attention to detail
•    Able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously 
•    Energetic, proactive manner and action-oriented behaviour
•    Demonstrated ability to develop all facets of successful and sustainable safety programs and culture
•    Demonstrated ability to lead local regulatory compliance
•    Demonstrated ability to manage ISO recordkeeping and audits as well as H&S metrics

Requisite Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree or above in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Management or a related field as well as a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
•    8+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or occupational health programs in manufacturing production, or service operations.
•    Experience implementing 5S/Lean principles and safety process improvement in an operational environment.
•    Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with mix of contract and temporary employees at a site of at least 500 people preferred.
•    Relevant EHS professional certification: CSE, NEBOSH, CSP or equivalent.
•    Ability to travel 40% of time
