Manager Materials Sustainability APP

PURPOSE:   
Support, drive and implement sustainability programs focused on environmental initiatives and sustainable materials social compliance with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant execution in adidas supply base and adidas objectives are met.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
•    Support environmental / social compliance initiatives for creation new adidas policies / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and systems/tools in collaboration with internal and external parties.
•    Drive implementation of sustainability programs, onboard internal and external stakeholders and provide trainings as well as guidance for related processes or systems/tools.
•    Monitor and analysis process and vendors performance, proactively identify issues, develop solutions with relevant stakeholders and drive implementation to improve performance.
•    Facilitate best practice exchange and continuous improvement efforts with Sustainability, Apparel Material Sourcing team and other divisions (Footwear, and Accessories &Gears).  
•    Maintain network and relationship with external parties (e.g. Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals [ZDHC], Textile Exchange, BCI [Better Cotton Initiative], Organic Cotton Accelerator [OCA]), supply base, and internal teams to develop a strong degree of knowledge in Environment and Social Compliance. 
•    Support Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) compliance supply chain mapping and implementation, and also Supply Base Transparency initiatives for sustainable material sourcing.

•    External companies (e.g. Certificate Bodies, Textile Exchange, BCI...)

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 
•    Strong analysis, communication & negotiation skills
•    Process thinking / end-to-end mindset
•    Strong knowledge of Environmental Engineering and Chemistry to Apparel material manufacturing. Cotton relevant knowledge or background is preferable.
•    Strong execution, implementation skill
•    Proactive approach and thinking outside of the box
•    Fluent English, verbal and written
•    Project Management Skill
•    Knowledge of chemistry related to textile dying, synthetic leather wet process and leather tanning.

 

PREREQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    College or University degree in Chemistry/Industrial Engineering/Process Engineer/Environmental Health (EHS).
•    At least 5 years relevant working experience, preferably in textile mill.
