Manager SEA, Environment - Chemicals & Wastewater Management (Guangzhou, HCMC or Shanghai)

The management of chemicals in multi-layer supply chain is complex and challenge, therefore we need to work in wider spectrum and collaboratively with various stakeholders such as chemical experts, industry association, to drive changes and identify the opportunities for further improvement.

 

The purpose of this role is to support Director, Social and Environmental Affairs (SEA) to manage end to end chemical management matters and issues in SEA. The role is fast paced, highly collaborative and operates within a dynamic work environment that demands agility and flexibility.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage & implement Chemicals Management Programme in key countries under your area of responsibilities.
  • Leverage their expertise to support the leaders in program development and improvement
  • Provide technical advice to suppliers on how to improve their chemical/wastewater performance in the event of any compliance breaches and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensures facilities understand and fulfill adidas chemical management compliance and working towards to targets.
  • Provides training to facilities in regular basis to improve their understanding on program and targets. 
  • Analyze the performance indicators to track supplier performance and provide business partners with clear summary on supplier performance under his/her coverage.
  • Identify the areas of risk and provide recommendations in respect of those risks, based on legal obligations, strategic commitments and/or SEA requirements
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to support chemical management program implementation

  • Local and regional industry associations on chemicals e.g. ZDHC
  • Laboratories
  • Engage in dialogue with third parties, including NGO, Government bodies and professional institutions
  • External monitors

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong business acumen and superior quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey complex information in a simple, easily understood to diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Strong team player with proven ability to work cross functionally to achieve goals and objectives and ability to work independently as well as in team setting.
  • Strong written and verbal English, any other regional (Asia Pacific) language is a plus
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing chemical/ wastewater management aspects in apparel or footwear industry, with footwear knowledge is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

 

Travel:

30-40%
