Manager Testing & Compliance

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:


Support Sr Manager Compliance Excellence in driving, managing and evolving compliance governance programs and framework (process, procedure, policies, systems, comms platform) related to area of expertise and for the specific region, product types and technologies. This position contributes by driving research, development and implementation of new test methodologies and equipment relating to the compliance framework, independently and end-to-end, and supporting the testing standards definition. In addition, this role executes and evaluates physical material, component and finished good tests and translates the results into recommendations for product development. This role works cross-divisionally with multiple business units.


Key Responsibilities:


Product compliance (50%)

  • Maintain existing compliance framework: identify compliance framework updates needs, define strategic updates of documentation infrastructure, maintain relevant platforms and systems, and support Sr Manager Compliance Excellence with future governance solutions.
  • Manage new requests to address continuous adherence to legal/external changes and needs of the organization: Identify and elevate potential needs for product compliance framework updates, support Sr Manager Compliance Excellence in research legal landscapes and gathering information to determine proper strategic course of action, coordinate and support implementation and roll out.


Laboratory testing (50%)

  • Drive research, development and implementation of new test methodologies and equipment independently and end-to-end as it pertains to product compliance framework
  • Identify and foster cooperation with industry-leading external partners (e.g. universities, businesses)
  • Execute all kinds of physical material, component and finished good tests within the given timelines
  • Evaluate, track and analyse test results and write scientific reports, summaries and presentations
  • Translate and communicated test results into recommendations for product development
  • Ensure proper data management in the respective systems in time and accurate format
  • Manage sample duties as per laboratory process.
  • Support Laboratory equipment and device purchasing and maintenance.


Continuously Train/upskill:

  • Undertake necessary training and upskilling opportunities assigned and discussed with Sr. Manager Compliance Excellence.
  • Stay connected to relevant current and upcoming research, industry trends, standards organizations, related conferences.

  • All AC-Testing and Quality teams (CE, PE, LE, and Claims/Reporting)

  • Global Operations/Product Operations – Divisions and quality teams within the sourcing organization.

  • Key external independent laboratories
  • Secondary relationships: Labeling team, Brand team, Legal teams.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Expert knowledge of testing standards and processes
  • General Project Management skills (scoping, planning, resources coordination, escalation…)
  • Product/Material/quality Engineering background preferred
  • Legal & Compliance Experience or exposure preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English


Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:


  • Four-year college or university degree with a preferred focus on engineering, testing, or technical studies
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive working experience in laboratory or manufacturing of sporting goods industry preferred.
