Project Manager - Consumer Insights (m/f/d) until 31.01.2025



On our path to become a truly sustainable company, we are taking a leading position in a German government-funded, highly ambitious innovation program: BIOTEXFUTURE. The program focuses on a cross-industry shift towards a bio-based future. Next to the portfolio of R&D projects of BIOTEXFUTURE, the project TransitionLab focuses on conducting research on – and facilitating interaction with – consumers and key bioeconomy stakeholders who influence the societal transition towards bioeconomy. On the one hand, TransitionLab generates essential consumer insights in relation to biobased products. On the other hand, the project aims at creating a deep understanding of interaction chains between stakeholders and their perception of technologies, concepts, value chains and products to make the BIOTEXFUTURE program a success.


The open position will be a key player in the project responsible to drive two areas: First, the role is responsible to coordinate a central pool of research questions and ensure that these are answered through empirical research conducted by the project partners. Second, the role is responsible to ensure the project is continuously managed by applying state-of-the-art project management practices.





(1) Coordination and integration of research questions

  • A central pool of (consumer/stakeholder insights) research questions relevant to BIOTEXFUTURE is consistently managed and kept up to date
  • A process of integrating and structuring new research questions relevant to BIOTEXFUTURE is set up and managed continuously
  • Regular meetings are facilitated aimed at bringing the relevant project partners together to prioritize research questions and distribute the research work
  • The centralized integration of research results and their publication across BIOTEXFUTURE and beyond is consistently managed


(2) Project management (incl. events)


  • Agile project management practices are set up and lived by all partners
  • Productive collaboration is enabled through suitable meetings across different levels
  • High transparency is created regarding the progress (and potential roadblocks) of workstreams and work packages
  • Project-related events are planned and conducted




  • TransitionLab project partners (adidas-external, mainly universities)
  • adidas teams focused on innovation in the field of sustainability
  • adidas strategy teams focused on sustainability
  • adidas consumer insights team





  • Experience as a project manager and familiar with PM methods (e.g. PRINCE2, Scrum)
  • Experience qualitative and quantitative consumer research
  • Comfortable in a scientific environment (professors, post-docs, PhD candidates)
  • Ability to quickly build and maintain productive relationships
  • Negotiation skills: obtain maximum results from meetings with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills
  • Passion for sustainability and curiosity for technology
  • Strong analytical skills, solution driven and result oriented
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ideally project management tool experience (e.g. Smartsheet)





  • 3 years of working experience in a relevant field
  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Fluent English and German (verbal and written)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
