In partnership with the Director of Visual Excellence, this position will effectively develop and activate the overall Visual Excellence team.  Define strategy and priorities that promote Visual Excellence as a profit center contributor, driving both brand and business targets. Responsible for understanding top-line sales of stores and developing action-oriented results while overseeing regional spend and tracking against ROI.



Oversee all supervisory and managerial duties related to Visual Excellence team in a geographic region. 

Coaching of third-party Area Managers and Trainers to drive Visual Excellence for both Visual Merchandising and In-Store Communication tools; including team development and coaching, performance management and assessment, leading and motivation, succession planning.


Provide leadership for a geographic group of stores to meet or exceed in NAM Visual Merchandising standards, working closely with Visual Merchandising teams to execute brand standards at the regional and store level. Manage training, communication & best practice processes into the market place to ensure Global consistency and excellence in execution at the point of sale. This position is responsible to motivate and inspire through role-modelling the hero behaviours across all pillars of Selling & Service, Operations, and People.



Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with agency to compile, maintain and manage monthly calendar in line with budget and regular rotations and special project needs.
  • Track regional spend as it relates to any expenses incurred via regular rotations, special projects and all travel and entertainment costs.
  • Responsible for overall marketing working budget for region. Partner with agency to monitor and track total spend and flagging any potential scope creep.
  • Partner with agency on the execution of all performance evaluations. Provide evaluations of Area Managers and Visual and feedback.


  • Drive recruitment of Visual Excellence team in your region, including Regional Visual Trainers, Area Managers and Visual Pillar roles at the store level. Partner with District Managers, and Store Leaders on recruitment efforts pertaining to the in-store visual roles and Agency on Regional Visual Trainers and Area Managers roles.



  • Ensure all Visual Merchandising onboarding is being facilitated according to the defined training schedule for each new role.


  • Lead the strategic planning for all visual merchandising initiatives and guidelines to ensure flawless execution from in-store teams.


  • Partner with cross-functional teams including merchandising, sourcing, store development, and operations to ensure holistic approach taken to each initiative.


  • Identify key metrics for success in overall and individual KPI, UPT, and Store Profit. Communicate clear expectations and continuing monitor your teams in order to successfully achieve their performance and financial targets


  • Track implementation of visual merchandising guidelines and provide feedback to Director of VM and Director of Merchandising.  Measure ROI results of all projects.


  • Manage relationships with all relevant business partners; specifically, the Field Operations Team, Store Leadership team, In-Store Communications, Marketing, Space Planning Team, Allocations and Merchandising Teams.
  • Positively communicates and actively demonstrates the Brand Values and NAM Retail Mission.
  • Be a Brand Ambassador, consistently exhibiting the Brand Attitude and Values


Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience:

  • Proven Passion for visual merchandising.
  • Knowledge of retail landscape, training methods, visual merchandising, retail marketing and presentation.
  • Strong project and budget management and planning skills. Highly organized and demonstrated follow through.
  • Must possess and consistently exhibit the competencies relative to the position.
  • Excellent skills in operating personal computers, POS systems, and various software packages including MS office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of profit and loss statement and store KPIs to make commercial decisions based on sound financial judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to lead discussions in diverse groups of varying size.
  • Ability to think conceptually, in strategic terms and diagnose and translate sales/category reporting to an in store merchandising strategy.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions and request clarification if needed.
  • Demonstrates an inspirational attitude that contributes to a positive team environment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.




  • 4 year college or university degree in business, retail management, or related field.
  • Minimum 6-10 years’ experience working in a sports/fashion customer & commercial focused retail environment with a minimum 18 months of Store Management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in managing high level retail Visual Merchandising and delivering consumer in-store experience.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and store personnel.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
