The design industry needs to change. It’s time to offer talent of all kinds a seat at the table. At adidas, we’re committed to breaking down barriers faced by young creators. Today, we’re taking that mission inside S.E.E.D., the School for Experiential Education in Design, located at our Brooklyn Creator Farm. Developed in partnership with Pensole Design Academy (@pensoleofficial), S.E.E.D. is a strategic pipeline to welcome new talent into the brand and the industry —because we believe in a future of footwear designed by the consumer, for the consumer.

At the heart of every successful design team is a strategic lead who makes systems, processes and organisation look effortlessly easy. This role will ensure the strategic, efficient, and high-performance operational implementation of S.E.E.D. projects, Creative Direction, Advanced Concepts, and Brooklyn Creator Farm activities and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-    Create multi-year (3-4yrs) plan for progression and deployment of future S.E.E.D. program and framework.
-    Partner with the Advanced Concepts VP on key deliverables and milestones.
-    Own S.E.E.D. strategic business plan. Create clear vision and set direction, mission, strategic priorities, KPI’s and governance against outlined objectives. Continuously review, adapt, and sharpen innovations to drive program to excellence. 
-    Drive outreach, selection, and onboarding of each S.E.E.D. Generation including execution of ongoing Creator Camps and S.E.E.D. Online Finals Curriculum. 
-    Direct day-to-day operations of S.E.E.D program and team, including team budgeting, piloting, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, growing, and managing team. 
-    Mentor and coach S.E.E.D. team to serve as catalysts, champions, and partners to Design. Lead by example and model exemplary standards of engagement, passion, and professionalism
-    In partnership with Advanced Concepts and Creative Direction Design Leadership, assess and select internal and external product opportunities against selection criteria. Identify and engage functional mentors from the design community for S.E.E.D. designers.
-    Live Open Source by sourcing, selecting, and managing internal and external cross-functional partnerships for product creation, storytelling, and talent attraction/development. 
-    Negotiate partnership contracts and work with entities such as external facing brands, Board of Advisors, Pensole, agencies, and educational institutions.
-    Upon program completion, partner with Design SLT and Human Resources to identify and place S.E.E.D. designers in entry level roles through ongoing #MyBest, TLU, and calibration reviews.
-    Coach, counsel, and support team through transitions as imbedded HR conduit. 
-    Create inclusive and high performing environment where S.E.E.D. designers, consultants, partners, and open-source creators have clarity and accountability for delivery.
-    Ideate and produce trainings, workshops, and speaker series.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

-    Ability to think strategically, synthesize data and develop innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment.

-    Proven skills and capabilities in project, organization, time, and budget management.
-    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-    Strong client management skills.

-    Proactive, organised, hardworking, and keen eye for detail. 
-    High levels of numeracy.
-    Ability to work both alone and as part of a team.
-    Proven experience with entire design process (project scope and time planning, design steps, production/execution of design solution, pre-press processes).
-    Strong understanding and appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion best practices and proven ability to incorporate these into program planning and execution.
-    Knowledge of basic design terminology preferred. 
-    Proficient computer skills on Apple Mac or PC.
-    Passion for adidas and its mission and for sport, culture, design, and project management.

 

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/ MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

-    To provide access to those who may not have attained one, no university degree required. 
-    10 years of progressive work experience that may entail a variety of diverse disciplines or industries, including but not limited to design, recruiting, development, learning, or education. 
-     5+ years management/leadership experience.
-    Strong conceptual and strategic program management skills.
