Senior Director Brand Design Creative Direction (m/f/d)

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organisation:


  • Develop and direct Design Strategies and executions that create brand desire, to grow our business, and set worldclass standards for the image of the adidas brand.
  • Lead the teams that will deliver leading design direction and executions that radiate from sellin to sellout, across all consumer touchpoints from 2D to retail to digital


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and drive clear brand identity across retail, digital, packaging
  • Develop and drive clear brand identity across consumer-facing communications
  • Lead the development of annual and seasonal Design strategies and direction
  • Contribute to the creation of long-term Brand Design strategies
  • Set and direct the priorities of Brand Design team that will fulfill brand goals
  • Help drive the implementation of Design strategies throughout HQ organisation
  • Identify opportunities of improvement and change, and initiate own proposals/projects
  • Advocate and educate internally about Brand Design, and collaborate with cross functional departments to achieve shared common goals
  • Actively seek out new Design resources and direct them to deliver world class results
  • Collaborate with department co-Directors to ensure effective cross-discipline communication , collaboration, best practices
  • Adapt Brand Design team direction to meet changing business needs
  • Continually seek out new ideas, methods, resources that nurture an ever effective creative and leading Design team
  • Manage assigned Brand Design operating and marketing working budgets
  • Staff most suitable persons in direct report positions in alignment with HR, set personal and developmental objectives
  • Manage all reports as an integrated team by setting objectives, targets and guidelines to ensure smooth cooperation of all direct reports along all interfaces
  • Identify and prepare talents in the team for career progression within the adidas organization

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership skills
  • Knowledge of marketing touch points and trends
  • Creative Direction of agencies, illustrators, photographers, programmers
  • Ability to understand business opportunities and find creative ways to solve problems through design
  • Demonstrated exceptional negotiation skills and ability to influence outcomes
  • Expert in Creative software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English. English mother tongue is an advantage. Advanced in another European language a plus.



Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree or the equivalent in Design, Fine Arts, Design Management
  • At least 12 years work experience in Design Management, inhouse or agency experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in leading a creative team
  • Passion for adidas and it’s mission
  • Passion for sports, culture, design
