Senior Director Brand Expression - Performance (m/f/d)



  • Lead the brand design team by providing brand defining creative leadership for the visual image, tonality and voice of the Performance Label across all communications and touchpoints.
  • Create and build the creative direction for Performance Label Identity and manage the brand design team in executing against it, be it in-house or via creative partners.
  • Harmonize direction with all other Brand Design disciplines and key stakeholders.





  • Lead the brand design team by providing brand defining creative leadership for the visual image and voice of the Performance Label across all communications and touchpoints, ensuring end-to-end creative excellence, from sell-in (internal) to sell-out (consumer-facing).
  • Own the visual direction and brand voice of Adidas Performance for consumer facing work: images, both still and moving, photography, illustration, typography, branding, color, composition, copy and brand voice/tonality.
  • Create a holistic big picture vision for the Performance Label and lead the creation of annual and long-term Creative Direction strategies for the Performance BU’s, including the creation of a brand bible, seasonal guidelines and franchise specific creative direction.
  • Collaborate and align Performance BU’s and sub-brand creative vision with the wider brand vision and Brand Design teams and equivalents in other BUs.
  • Advise BU Comms on the effective implementation of Brand Design, including defining creative territories and briefing of third party agencies. 
  • Consult and collaborate with senior stakeholders of Product Design teams to ensure holistic end-to-end storytelling.
  • Review and approve creative execution at key creative milestones, aligning feedback with the SVP of the Performance Labeland communicating edits, changes or opportunities to agencies/internal teams with clarity.
  • Seek out new creative resources and partners that can deliver world class results.
  • Support Brand Comms with on-time and on-budget completion of initiatives and projects.
  • Contribute to adidas’ creative community – culture and behaviors.
  • Give concrete direction for selection of creative partners such as photographers, illustrators, videographers, directors, writers, agencies and freelancers consistent with budget allocation.
  • Brief external design agencies according to Creative Direction.
  • Act as a creative leader and thought leader in the realm of creative direction and brand building for the wider BU.
  • Build and lead a highly engaged creative team through the recruitment and professional development of members, including coaching and performance management.
  • Delegation and distribution of projects and budgets to the brand design team.





  • IT skills:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint: advanced /Outlook
  • Design apps: expert
  • Strong visual and verbal skills with the ability to create impactful/exciting visuals
  • Language: English: excellent
  • Passion for adidas Originals and the culture it represents
  • Passion for creativity & design





  • Under-graduate level Design education or combination thereof
  • Solid education and advanced experience in the creative development of communication tools and brand building
  • At least 10 years experience in Sporting Goods/Fashion Industry or Design on managerial level
  • 5 years personnel management experience
  • Proven experience with the entire design process (project scope and time planning, design steps, production/execution of design solution, pre-press processes
