Senior Director Category Management - Originals

Purpose:

Drive and provide consumer insights in support of the global commercial agenda while ensuring a relevant product range is created to meet local (North America) market needs. Turn insights into data, then execute a data-based strategic assortment plan against the Originals category vision and KPIs.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Own and deliver the North America GTM strategy against global priorities; lead category management teams to bring the strategy to life
  • Collaborate with CTC and relevant cross functional teams to execute the plan
  • Align with Global on product range build and assortment strategy
  • Prepare the line for go to market excellence, including system, catalogue, and web text maintenance
  • Build assortment plans that provide clear product direction and information to the global product team and supporting departments
  • Develop category initiatives to meet key commercial goals
  • Collaborate in preparing communication concepts for the category
  • Build market/retailer network to maintain trend and product awareness
  • Present ranges internally and externally (to key retailers)
  • Continually monitor and analyze product range and sales results to determine products that maximize profitability/productivity
  • Manage the process with effective communication and action steps to achieve margin, profitability, and acceptable inventory levels
  • Ensure organizational efficiency through motivation, training, and development of direct reports

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Deep knowledge of the Local/North America consumer market and trends
  • Experience working in the hype space and possess a strong cultural sense, and an eye for aspirational (premium) product
  • Proven ability to translate data into insights and insights into strategy
  • Ability to provide merchandising leadership, including the ability to manage/mentor teams
  • Advanced cross-functional marketing knowledge and market experience in sport and/or fashion/lifestyle categories (sporting goods industry preferred)
  • Experience leading and managing a diverse team (including remote management)
  • Experience in both market and above market organization preferred
  • Strong presentation, planning, and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed

 

Minimum required education and experience:

 

  • Deep knowledge of the local market (North America) or in a global role today (required)
  • Proven track record working with complexity in a large, broadly scoped role
  • Deep knowledge of the hype space, strong cultural sense, and eye for aspirational (premium) product
  • 8+ years product marketing in sporting goods or apparel with 5+ years’ progressive management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Marketing/Business preferred
