Senior Director Corporate Communication APAC

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The APAC Corporate Communication team manages adidas reputation in APAC internally and externally.   The role is to develop corporate communication strategy across APAC as part of global communication strategy with a special focus on China, the largest adidas market globally and in APAC.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

APAC Corporate Communication

 

  • Be part of global corporate communications leadership team to input and execute global corporate communication strategy in APAC.
  • Be part of APAC leadership team and trusted advisor to APAC MD and GCA, Japan, Korea and SEAPAC MDs in corporate communication and reputation management.
  • Work closely with global corporate communication team to land global message consistently and effectively in the market.
  • Develop the corporate communication strategy that covers media relations, internal communications and CSR/sustainability communications to support local business to achieve ‘the best sports company in APAC’ mission.
  • Lead and develop one APAC corporate communication team with professional skills and business insights to deliver excellent communication.
  • Build 3C culture in the team.
  • Lead the development of media strategies and key message platforms; prepare senior management for media interviews and opportunities; and work with the media to shape/ influence story coverage.
  • Act as a company spokesperson and respond to media inquiries when necessary
  • Provide professional communication support to local issue/crisis management.
  • Develop and oversee management of the Corporate Communication budget; accountable for executing programs within budget parameters
  • Establish, develop and utilize effective PR measurement tools

 

 

  • Communication of company strategy to APAC employees with clarity and simplicity.
  • Develop and execute the internal communication strategy to support company-wide initiatives by using various communication tools and platforms.
  • Lead corporate event management and company-wide employee activities to support leadership communication.
  • Support building company culture by managing all employee activities like sports activities, festival activities and volunteer activities.
  • Provide professional communication support to HR cultural initiatives and change management when needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong background in Corporate Communication.
  • Experience in a multi-national company.
  • Excellent communication expertise, both written and verbal (quality, consistency and accuracy)
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal). Fluency in Mandarin a plus.
  • Comprehensive business understanding of topics, processes and structures
  • Strong communication skills
  • High degree of stakeholder orientation and appropriate prioritization
  • Ability to structure, coach, guide, manage and develop a complex team 
  • Thorough understanding of the complexity, interactions and dynamics within an international company
  • Ability to think and act strategically and develop operational plans
  • Positive, “can do” attitude, energy and high levels of stamina.  Interested in sports
  • Must display presence, energy and strong strategic thinking skills
  • Able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to travel across APAC markets and to global HQ

 

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years of communication experience including media relations, event organization, corporate communications and issues management
  • At least 5 years of people management experience
  • Experience gained with Youth brand / Consumer Products industry is seen as valuable
  • University degree in communication related field; marketing focus a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills in both English and Mandarin
