Senior Director Corporate Controlling ZBB

 The Corporate Controlling function plays an integral part in the financial steering of the company. It includes all aspects of management reporting, financial planning, budgeting and performance management on a company level. The analyses and reports provide transparency to the Executive Board and drive both decision operational and strategic decision making and resource allocation across our Global Sales (markets and channels) and Global Brands (product categories and marketing) matrix organization.

The (Senior) Director Corporate Controlling is a critical leadership position in the finance organization reporting directly into the SVP Corporate Controlling. He/she will be responsible for developing the Corporate Controlling strategy, target setting, monitoring and for leading selected financial initiatives on behalf of the function. Key stakeholders and regular interaction partners include CFO and other Executive Board members, central finance functions (esp. heads of accounting, investor relations, treasury) as well as market and category Finance Directors.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the overall ZBB program and project timeline
  • Represents the ZBB program in all major steering committees and decision forums
  • Owns all process milestones and major deliverables towards the program steering committee
  • Drives alignment and decisions with all major stakeholders related to the overall program, and selected “big ticket” initiatives
  • Facilitates workshops across ZBB and drives result oriented discussions incl. priority setting
  • Supports initiative approval process in alignment with CCO
  • Supports development of master communication/change mgmt. plan for overall ZBB program
  • Enable fact-based and efficient decision-making process by providing comprehensive and insightful financial analysis and simulations and derived balanced recommendations to the Finance Executive Team
  • Drive analysis of financial data on group level, by utilizing internal and external sources, combining this information to draw conclusions, considering the company’s goals and financial standing
  • Oversee financial modelling using historical data and providing simulations based on various industry-related operating metrics and identify trends
  • Provide tracking and reporting of strategic business plan, annual operating budget and forecasts and insightful ad hoc analysis to understand business drivers of performance for the company and its different performance cells
  • Prepare regular updates to the Executive Board on behalf of Corporate Controlling, identifying and addressing risks/opportunities in the execution of the company’s strategy
  • Own execution of projects with strategic / transaction character as well as process and system upgrades
  • Ensure high employee engagement at every level through effective motivation, coaching, training and development of personnel in the team
  • Act as a role model and follow adidas Fair Play code of conduct and internal policies

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree or qualification in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting
  • Minimum of 9+ years’ experience within Finance, Management Consulting or Investment Banking
  • FP&A, controlling and functional/business unit/market CFO experience in corporate environment required
  • Track record of outstanding performance in education and career
  • Minimum 2+ years of prior experience with Zero Based Budgeting, ideally within a consulting environment
