Senior Director Global Media

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Primary: Lead overall global strategy and provide oversight to adidas global media in driving best in class media strategy, innovation, budget management, analytics and practices for the business globally

Secondary

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for the Global Media agency of record
  • Oversee and manage the planning, internal communication and implementation of media for the adidas Brand globally

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement all levels of planning related to media for adidas Brand
  • Lead the development of both seasonal and annual holistic and integrated media strategy and plans to deliver on brand needs, partnering closely with Planning and Global Category directors to harvest consumer insights
  • Provide budget guidance and leadership to markets to achieve a consistent footprint of adidas brand across paid media worldwide
  • Foster a high-performance relationship with the global media agency of record, Carat
  • Develop and steward the process for how all facets of global media should operate, partnering closely with the adidas Procurement team
  • Align with Senior Director of Global Comms and Category Directors to develop a media calendar that is rooted in key brand initiatives, product launches and sport moments
  • Ensure media rollout plan is adhered to globally and with the markets
  • Serve as the face for all media-related partners both internally and externally
  • Responsible for planning and managing the global media fund to activate all global brand initiatives 
  • Drive media innovation across the adidas brand globally, infusing best practices and standards at the local level as relevant 
  • Set digital advertising strategy to drive core KPIs. Drive demand generation activities for the Brand; in collaboration with DBC, balance demand capture (eComm). 

 

Stakeholder Management:

  • Ability to effectively manage internationally located team and partners
  • Aggressively foster and motivate internal and external media teams
  • Clearly and confidently manage media communications at the senior level (e.g. VPs, Sr. Directors and Local Market Brand Activation leaders, VP and Sr Directors for DBC)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to translate consumer media behaviors and business challenges into holistic media solutions
  • Deep knowledge of media analytics and proven success using data to inform media strategy
  • Organizationally savvy – ability to effect change and thought throughout an organization 
  • Proven experience in media management: agency management, planning, briefing, buying, delivery and analysis 
  • External and/or agency work experience at the planning and/or strategy levels
  • Experience managing agency partnerships and building strategic relationships 
  • Deep knowledge of both traditional and digital/social media channels and an ability to develop and interpret media plans and analytics for both
  • Proven understanding of a big picture view of the media, search engine, analytics and marketing technology ecosystem; ability to lead and navigate comfortably in a global environment characterized by complexity and constant disruption
  • Ability to act as an internal spokesperson for the brand as it relates to all facets of media
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong experience presenting to groups with different backgrounds (marketing function + internationally diverse market teams)
  • International work experience and ability to speak multiple languages is preferred, not mandatory
  • Broad understanding and passion for the sports and/or entertainment industry

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 10+ years and broad marketing/media experience with exposure to global clients and a mix of agency and brand-side experiences 
  • 5+ years + experience managing the planning, development and execution of media 
  • Degree educated, preferably in a Marketing discipline
