Senior Director IT Management - Trading & Digital Analytics

We are looking for a Senior Director IT Management to lead our Product Engineering for Trading and Digital Analytics at adidas worldwide. You will be part of a team focused on building and operating a high-throughput, high-volume data products towards a real-time fact-based trading and consumer experience. 

Digital Analytics has increased engineering scope heavily throughout 2021, especially due to adding more data science products to their portfolio, hence engineering needs are expanding beyond data foundations and reporting suites. Data Products around Demand Forecasting, Margin Optimization, Ranking, Next Best Action, Sizing and Fitting, Assortments and Activations, Marketing or Product Performance Analytics require constant evolution adding new sources, changing their data pipelines and serving layers, or training and testing new models.

The Trading Area is leaving a technical revolution, from daily ranging and product and content updates based on reporting tools, into real-time trading operations managed from a physical trading tower, fueled by RPA, Artificial Intelligence and bespoke technical solutions.

You should be capable to individually develop a team of engineers, architects and agile practitioners and support them when necessary. You will set team and strategy priorities and get results across boundaries accordingly to the product roadmap and technical objectives. You will ensure an inclusive work environment and manage the team’s performance in high demanding circumstances and under uncertainty.



  • Lead and internalize more than 100 data and software engineers, architects and agile practitioners, which deliver in small teams using agile methodologies complex tech data-intensive solutions.
  • Use and constantly develop our data ecosystem which is based on a native AWS ecosystem (EMR, Sagemaker, Glue), connected to the real-time capabilities offered by our homegrown Kubernetes and Kafka cluster across our different Cloud regions.
  • Evolve our pipelines and algorithms, mainly in Python and Scala leveraging Spark, towards real-time inferencing and serving.
  • Follow our Data Mesh principles, where data is democratized securely across the different business domains and applications.
  • Deliver value and rapid experimentation constantly through MLOps pipelines, processes and mindset.
  • Delivery cockpits and User Experiences for our Digital Operations and Traders to operate our sites.
  • (Co-)Lead in partnership with your peer in Product Management/Data Science a cross-functional team that is constantly delivering value to the business
  • Lead and influence stakeholders to drive architecture improvements accordingly with our security standards and best practices.
  • Assess cross-functional technical solutions with a product-centred mindset.
  • Maintain quality, set good development practices, and define standards that keep the focus on the right things.
  • Implement a data-driven delivery process where we optimize for lead-time, with the right investment in features and technical debt.
  • Help the teams solve challenges using innovative technologies and practices. Support our engineers and project/product managers all the way to the finish line (get things running in production and fulfilling the needs of real users).
  • Collaborate with our Site Reliability Engineering teams for high-throughput sales in our eCommerce platform, including the constant improvement of the platform.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for operations in a highly confidential environment with high-value deliverables. Responsible to identify risk, within high-throughput sales events, communicate and mitigate with contingency plans and appropriate solutions to different scenarios of resolution.



  • BS/MS with a focus on Computer Science, Business Administration or IT or related areas, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Passion about Software, Data and People
  • At least 15-year experience in Tech.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in a relevant area, and at least 5 years of hands-on software and data engineering career.
  • Proficient spoken and written command of English.
  • Experience writing and designing software in high data volume environments
  • Passion for eCommerce and a fast-paced environment. Love for solving complex technical problems at scale in an enterprise context.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate across stakeholders that span several functional areas, including Data Science, product owners, frontend/backend developers, DevOps, test engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in Commerce or other digital sales environments, working closely to the consumer in agile delivery models.
  • Successfully lead local market/function projects and programs.
  • Working experience in start-up and corporate environments.
  • Passion for code quality, clean code, architecture and testing practices.
  • Pragmatic and result-oriented approach to building solutions that scale, but also solve business needs. Ability to be able to make trade-offs to focus on things that matter most to our consumers.
  • Smart and proactive communicator, able to empathize with peers and direct reports alike.
  • Agile mindset with a focus on fast iteration and fail-fast attitude (living in practice the “think it, build it, ship it, tweak it” mantra).
  • Action bias and pride for outstanding results.
  • Experience living and/or working abroad is a plus.
