Senior Finance Analyst, BU Finance

Purpose:

The Sr. Financial Analyst, BU Finance is the financial frontline to category senior leadership, partnering to build greater brand value through market share and margin improvement, in both short and long-term planning. This individual owns the financial planning and tracking of a Category, by supporting the Sr. Director and Category Management teams from both a product and an account lens. Lead and develop financial analyses to support forecasting, reporting, market research, sell-through metrics, and ad hoc projects. Provide financial recommendations to influence strategic and tactical decisions. Play a key role in long-term holistic financial planning, collaborating with Sr. Management and cross functional teams.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Establish and maintain financial analysis of a product portfolio, collaborating with Category Management teams and other key partners such as Range Architecture and Demand Planning.
  • Develop financial tools to support implementation of market strategies and insights through seasonal milestones.
  • Create and own assigned BU’s monthly long-term forecast of Sales, Margins, and Volumes, focusing on the US Wholesale channel, aligning with business partners.
  • Collaborate with other North America channel partners (US Own Retail, US eCom, Canada) and integrate their input to report full North America forecast to Global HQ stakeholders.
  • Create weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc analyses for assigned Business Unit on key KPI’s. 
  • Independently analyze business risks and opportunities to determine financial impacts and report findings to Senior Leadership.
  • Collaborate with BU’s Sr Director and Sr. Mgr Finance on strategic projects.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with financial and/or sales analysis of products (i.e. pricing, costing, market share, sell-through).
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, comfort with Finance and/or Accounting principles and good understanding and experience with retail math and retail financial drivers.
  • Proven ability to operate cross functionally, join data from various sources and develop creative and innovative solutions within an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to accomplish assignments simultaneously under tight timelines.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, stakeholders, sales representatives, peers, clients and customers.
  • Ability to present to Executive level business partners.
  • Ability to represent sole Finance point-of-view among cross-functional partners.
  • Understanding in fundamental database design and development. Ability to gather data from multiple sources and manipulate the data to develop demand-driven and action-based reporting and analysis.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.  Strongly proficient skills in Access, Word, PowerPoint and Tableau

 

Qualifications (Minimum required education and experience):

  • University degree in Finance, Marketing, or Business 
  • Five to seven years experience in business or financial analysis or planning.  Product-oriented financial experience preferred.
  • Industry-specific experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Familiarity with relevant adidas (MicroStrategy, Tableau) systems/analytical software, and/or comparable industry Finance systems/analytical software a major plus
