Senior Industrial Engineer (m/f/d) - temp for 12 months



  • Working as part of the Distribution Solutions team the candidate will be knowledgeable of DC operational flows, introduction of mechanical and physical improvements to current operations.
  • Have the ability to conduct a review within a Distribution Center with regards to understanding the facility design, material flow, process design, capacities and constraints.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements within distribution centers and implement results. The candidate will have a wide understanding of Labour Management solutions, implementation and monitoring. Ideally with Manhattan based system.
  • Close collaboration will be required with the DC managers as well as the local onsite Lean Teams.
  • Experienced in varied manual DC processes required with an understanding of automated DC preferred.


Key Accountabilities

  • Subject matter expert to support DC operations.
  • Labour Management knowledge of implementation and operational use
  • Make recommendations for investment in new technologies and improvement of efficiency within the warehouse material flow.
  • Maintain process times for labour management tool
  • Responsible for leading MHE as work stream lead in distribution projects (material/process flow, racking and equipment)
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives (throughput, Piece price, operational efficiency)
  • Good understanding of latest trends in distribution technologies, making recommendations to the organization


Key Relationships

  • Internal – Distribution Center management (Inc. Lean Ambassadors) and Global Operations departments.  
  • IT (WMS/WCS) functions
  • Selected other functions across the Group based on projects, Global Real Estate, Corporate Communication team, Project Steering Boards, Project Directors/Managers, sponsors
  • External - Outside vendors as appropriate 

Knowledge, Capabilities and Experience

  • Proven ability to utilize recognized industrial engineering techniques effectively to produce tangible results
  • Broad and deep knowledge of engineering and distribution operations combining theoretical and practical knowledge
  • Contributes significantly to the achievement of department and/or project targets
  • Strong ability to identify, evaluate, and develop project solutions and recommendations
  • Work is independent but requires collaboration across multiple departments
  • Advanced ability to analyze complex processes and drive positive change
  • Experience with Labour Management (Time studies) desired. Manhattan WMS experience beneficial.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence across all levels of management
  • Thorough understanding of improvement tools as SIXSIGMA, Kaizen, 5S, time and motion studies
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed.
  • Strong MS-Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Access, etc.)
  • Fluent in English/German, verbal and written communication


  1. 5 years work experience, ideally in a distribution or production environment
  2. Understanding of Ind Eng application and lean process improvements
  3. Labour Management experience desired.
  4. Six Sigma Green belt preferred
